“There was a problem with my costume and my hair extensions. I didn’t sleep the night before. I’m dizzy. It’s less than a year since I gave birth to my second child in two years but everyone acts like I don’t have an offensive six-pack,” she wrote on her “Gimme More” performance. “I can’t believe I have to go out on stage feeling the way I do.”

“I went out there and did the best I could at the time, which – yes, granted – was far from my best at other times. I could see myself on video across the auditorium while I was performing; it was like seeing myself I’m in the mirror of the cheerful house,” he continued, according to the Daily Mail.

In her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney recalled how Justin “was at the top of his game” when he “had a panic attack” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, where they both performed. “It’s been a long time since I saw him. Everything is going well in his world,” he wrote in his book. “He was at the top of his game in everything, and he had a lot of swagger. I had a panic attack.”

She criticized her performance of “Gimme More,” saying, “I didn’t practice enough. I hated the way I looked. I knew it was going to be bad.”

That night, Justin continued to perform with Timbaland and Nelly Furtado who often collaborate. He also won the Best Male Artist award. “Justin slides down the runway. He was flirting with girls in the audience, including one who turned and arched her back, swaying her breasts while singing to him,” Britney wrote in her memoir.

After the “Toxic” singer opened the show with her critically-acclaimed performance of “Gimme More,” Sarah Silverman was brought onstage to make some onstage jokes at Britney’s expense. He even took aim at Britney’s young children, calling her two sons – Sean Preston, now 18, and Jayden James, now 17 – “the cutest mistakes you’ll ever see.”

The “A Million Ways To Die In The West” actress also slammed the “Criminal” singer, saying the pop star has “already achieved everything she’s ever going to achieve in her life” at 25 years old. His comments were water under the bridge at that point; however, more than a decade later, in the New York Times Presents Framing Britney Spears 2021 documentary, the “Wreck-It Ralph” voice actress addressed the backlash to her comments.

“I was known at that time for 4 roasts. MTV asked me to do a mini-fire of Britney after her big show,” Silverman wrote in a tweet in February 2021 according to Us Weekly. He went on to say that he never saw the “Piece Of Me” singer perform that night, as he was backstage. “Didn’t know he didn’t kill. Unfortunate. Art changes [years] as we know more & the world changes.” Although she didn’t directly apologize for her comments, she said, “I wish I could delete it but I can’t.”

The “Cry Me A River” singer has not addressed any of the allegations in Britney’s bombshell memoir so far. However, a source told the outlet that he is trying to focus on his family and ignore the headlines. “Justin will always support Britney and all her endeavors, but he’s trying to distance himself from her upcoming book,” the source explained. “It’s not something he’s focused too much on in terms of anything he might talk about about their former relationship.”

Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
