Pop star Britney Spears has finally explained why she likes to share photos of herself on social media without any clothes on.
Although many fans have posed the question to her on Instagram, she finally answered it in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24.

As well as snapping pictures of herself wearing little, if any, clothing, the 41-year-old pop star also enjoys playing dress-up and sharing some fashion-forward photos with her 42.2 million Instagram followers. In addition to her steamy shots, she also posted videos of her dancing and, most recently, a video of her dancing with a knife.
In an excerpt from her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” released by the New York Times,” the “Toxic” singer finally explained why she posted photos of herself in various states of undress on Instagram.
“I know that a lot of people don’t understand why I like to take pictures of myself naked or in new clothes,” she wrote. “But I think if they’ve been photographed by other people thousands of times, pushed and photographed for other people’s approval, they’ll understand that I get a lot of joy out of being photographed the way I feel sexy and taking pictures of myself.”

The pop princess shares two sons – Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17 – with ex-husband Kevin Federline. The two were married only from 2004 to 2007, but a violent custody battle that led to conservatorship caused tension between the official couple that did not fade with time. Last year, her son Jayden spoke to ITV UK in hopes of getting his mother off Instagram.
“It’s almost like he has to post something on Instagram to get attention,” Jayden said last year. “This has been going on for years and years, and there’s a good chance that this will never really stop.” During a separate interview with the same outlet, K-Fed said that he had told Preston and Jayden that his social media behavior was “another way” that the pop star was “trying to express himself,” though he admitted that it had been “tough” to the two teenage boys.
“I can’t imagine what it’s like to be a teenager, having to go to high school,” he said. “Who knows how many people asked them about it or talked to them about it?”

In September 2022, Jayden said that his mother was “struggling” to give her two sons the attention they needed in an interview with the Daily Mail. “I think Mom has struggled to pay attention and show us the same love and I don’t think she shows Preston enough and I feel really bad for that,” Jayden said at the time. “We’ve both been through so much stress in the past that this is our safe place now, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve been through to recover our mental state.”
In a now-deleted Instagram post shared via Us Weekly, the “Toxic” singer called out her son for saying that she would be “praying” for him. “So Jayden, while you’re undermining my behavior like my whole family always does with ‘I hope he gets better, I’ll pray for him’ — pray for what?” Britney asked at the time. “Do you want me to get better so I can keep giving your dad 40k a month? Or is the reason behind you deciding to act stupid is because it actually ended in 2 years and you got nothing?”

“You say, ‘Mom, oh, it’s going to change,'” Britney continued, lamenting how her kids don’t seem to want to spend time with her. “One time I looked you straight in the eye and said ‘I want to see you again?’ You called your father and I never saw you again.” The “Toxic” singer claimed that her boys always leave “two hours early,” adding, “If I don’t shower you all with gifts and make amazing food and play the mother f—king saint, it’s still not good enough .”
Britney admits, “I know I’m not perfect” but asks her children to be more understanding. “Jayden, it’s a miracle I can hold a normal conversation when I’m out of the place, but you’re just like the rest of my family,” she wrote at the time. “You secretly like looking at me like there’s something wrong with me.”
