Singer Britney Spears may not be able to talk about this.
On Tuesday night, the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer spoke out against women who don’t “show off” their bodies yet criticized those who do. Many fans feel that the 40-year-old pop star is calling out Selena Gomez, especially with the mention of her “Ice Cream” music video.
Although Britney took to Instagram on Wednesday night to say that she wasn’t talking about the “Only Murders In The Building” cast at all, many fans accused her of “backtracking” and creating “revisionist history.”

On Tuesday, Britney took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in a red bikini and posted the following caption:
Don’t you just love the courage of women who stand up for awards and talk about their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram???!!!!! They said “This is NOT something I would do” yet those women are the ones who got a 4 million dollar budget video made of sucking and licking homemade ice cream !!!! These other girls have nothing but beautiful bodies!!!! Who cares if it shows off??? THEY DESERVE IT!!! So when I see someone who has a big budget video sucking a lollipop but gives a true speech shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I want to tell those people don’t be hypocrites because you suck a lollipop you have BIG budget dreams… why you stand your ground against girls who get attention JUST LIKE YOU and they have none ????
However, after she started facing backlash from fans for calling out Selena Gomez, Britney deleted the caption and replaced the above comment with three red heart emojis. The “Hold Me Closer” singer returned to Instagram on Wednesday night to post a lengthy message that made it clear that he wasn’t talking about Selena at all.

While many fans assumed Britney’s original caption was a reference to Selena’s “Ice Cream” music video, Britney clarified that she was actually thinking of Kelis’ “Milkshake” music video when she wrote her original caption.
