Pop star Britney Spears released a song called “Selfish” in 2011 Femme Fatale album.
Although the song came out more than a decade ago, it started taking over the charts again after her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake released a new single of the same name.
However, fans were surprised when the “Toxic” singer took to Instagram over the weekend to say she loved her new song and insisted she never intended to “offend” anyone with the release of her memoir “The Woman In Me” in October 2023.

Over the weekend, the “Girl In The Mirror” singer took to Instagram to share a clip of Justin Timberlake appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
“I want to apologize for some of the things I wrote in my book. If I offend any of the people I really care about, I’m very sorry… I also want to say that I’m in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish,’” she wrote. “It’s so good and why is it that every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard???”
He closed his post by saying that his new song “Sanctified” was “wow too” along with a starry-eyed emoji. Although she disabled comments on her Instagram posts, fans on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, were suspicious of Britney’s message.
“He was hacked and paid to say this!” shouted a fan. “His account was compromised and he was forced to make the statement,” another follower speculated. “Oww, I’d love to see Britney Spears forgive her. It speaks volumes about her maturity and I can imagine Justin approaching her before, after her book, and them talking about it,” a third fan offered, but at this time, it’s unclear if the two have spoken privately following the publication of her memoir.

This isn’t the first time the “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer has mentioned that she never meant to “offend” anyone with her memoir. Days before the book was released in October 2023, he took to social media to insist that he had “moved on” from many of the events he detailed in his memoir.
“The purpose of my book is not to offend anyone in any way !!! That was me then … that was the past!!!” he started “I don’t like the headlines I read…that’s why I quit the business 4 years ago!!! Most of the books are from 20 years ago … I’ve moved and it’s a pretty clean slate from here!!!”
“I’m here to set it that way for the rest of my life!!!” he continued. “Anyway, that was the last one and s— happened !! This is actually a book that didn’t know to write … although some may be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”

For those of you who have read my book, there’s a lot you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people in the last two years !!!”
“I’m a ghostwriter and I really enjoy it that way!!! People also say MY BOOK HAS BEEN ILLEGALLY PUBLISHED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL and that is far from the truth … did you read the news today???” she asked, ending her post by writing, “I am so LOVED and blessed!!!”
