Singer Britney Spears reportedly refused to hand over custody of her dog to actor Sam Asghari.
The 41-year-old pop star owned several dogs before she met the 29-year-old actress on the set of the “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. Sam got Britney a Doberman named Porscha shortly after their engagement in September 2021. Britney later adopted a Shepherd puppy The Australian named Sawyer while on vacation in Maui in February 2022, shortly before their wedding in June 2022.

The “Toxic” singer has shared several photos and videos of her dog this past summer, most notably a video featuring Sawyer. When he first adopted her in 2022, he couldn’t stop thinking about her beautiful blue eyes.
On Friday, a source told the Daily Mail that Britney was worried Sam would try to take back the two dogs they got during their relationship: Porscha and Sawyer. “About [Britney and Sam’s shared] property, the hardest part of dividing any asset is their two dogs,” the source explained. “But Sam gave Porsha to Britney as a gift and she was the one who wanted to adopt Sawyer when they were in Maui.”
In addition to Sawyer and Porscha, Britney also has a Maltese puppy named Lulu and a cat named Wendy, but she adopted them before their relationship. In October 2021, Sam surprised Britney when he adopted a Doberman. “My fiancé was surprised [sic] with our newest member of the Family. Porsha,’ she captioned the Instagram video at the time.
“Her name is Porsha and she means to love you unconditionally,” Sam said, adding that the dog will be “trained to protect you from any mother who comes around you with bad intentions.”
In February 2022, Britney hinted that she might love Sawyer more than Sam in the caption of an Instagram post showing off her new pet dog, writing, “Oh my…. Can you have two loves in your life because he is second !!!! I’m introducing a new edition to my family … his name is Sawyer and he’s a white Australian shepherd with blue eyes !!!!!”
“I found him in Maui like a dream and took him home with me immediately. It’s funny … he doesn’t talk back but it’s like he understands what I’m saying!!!” Britney wrote at the time. “I think he understands me, especially with those eyes…he makes my heart melt…he needs me and I love that!!!”
It remains another asset that Sam may contest in the divorce, although Britney’s prenup protects her extensive music catalog. In the divorce filing, Sam wrote: “The applicant has not yet determined the nature and full extent of the separate property assets and liabilities of each party. There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the nature and full extent of which are currently unknown to the Applicant”
Despite this, it seems that Britney doesn’t mind giving back the engagement ring to Sam, who the actor proposed to in September 2021. The diamond ring was designed by jeweler Roman Malayev, but the outlet reports that the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor was given the ring for free to generate publicity for the brand.
“Sam can have the ring. It was free from the goldsmith and he didn’t want it anymore. He has enough diamonds,” the source said.

Despite conflicting reports on whether Britney is still close with her mother, Lynne Spears, or her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, a source told the outlet that Britney still has a strong support system amid the divorce.
“He is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mother Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she hasn’t already flown in,” the insider said. “He has a support system including his agent and old friends [and manager] Cade [Hudson]his friends which include some of his backup dancers and his girlfriend.”
In addition to her friends and family, the source went on to say that Britney also “has her team of assistants and cooks who are always around the house. She also has other employees who are always there.” It seems many of her famous friends came out to support the pop star.
“This past week, Britney has been getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn’t spoken to in years,” the source added. “He will get through this. He is getting worse and no one is going to let anything happen to him.”
