Britney Spears’ Sons Explain Why They Didn’t Attend Her Wedding

Singer Britney Spears was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. They have two teenage sons together: Jayden James, 16, and Sean Preston, 15.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Britney’s eldest son reveals why the men didn’t attend her June wedding to Iranian actor Sam Asghari and their thoughts on Britney’s suffocating 13-year conservancy.

In the interview, which will be broadcast on ITV Friday, Jayden appeared by his father’s side as he spoke about why he didn’t attend Britney and Sam’s wedding, even though it was held in his own backyard.

“At that time it wasn’t a good time to go,” Jayden said. “I’m not saying that I’m not happy for him. I’m really happy for them, but he didn’t invite the whole family, and then if it’s just going to be me and Preston, I just don’t see how that’s going to end well.”

Britney has been estranged from her father, Jamie, mother Lynne, sister Jamie Lynn, and brother Bryan, since her 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021. Jayden has been vocal about her famous family, admitting that, while the conservatorship went on for too long, he didn’t thought his grandparents were “bad people.”

In the interview, Jayden said that his grandfather was “just trying to be like any father, letting go [his] his daughter is pursuing her dream of becoming a superstar, but I think maybe the conservatorship is going on too long.”

Jayden said the long conservation “is probably why my mom is so upset about the whole situation that she’s working so long — I personally think she is. She should just rest and relax.”

The 16-year-old later backed up her grandfather, saying Jamie “didn’t deserve all the hate he got” and didn’t find him “manipulative,” despite what his mother claimed.

“They’re not bad people. They know what we’re going through right now. They want our future to be what we want it to be,” Jayden said. “They just want to watch over us. Mew [Lynne] and Uncle Bryan was a good part of our lives. They have taught me how to deal with things.”

Britney Spears Fires Back In Long Instagram Post

In her new Instagram post, which is currently still live at the time of this writing, the “Toxic” singer responded to her sons’ attacks, saying, “I’ve tried my best to be the best person I can be.”

“I tell my son Jayden that I send you all the love in the world every day for the rest of my life!!!” he wrote. “My love for my children knows no bounds and I am deeply saddened to know her crying saying I did not live up to her expectations of a mother … and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly!!! !”

“I really understand your need to stay with your father because I had to play the perfect role for 15 years with nothing,” she wrote. “I’m so happy to be doing 4 tours, judging the X Factor and WAAAY more… I’m doing it for you.”

He also called his son Sean, 15, who did not speak during the interview. “It’s horrible to see your father is a hypocrite and says the media is horrible but he tells you to talk about personal things to them !!!” Britney wrote.

“Since Preston isn’t talking, I’m sending my love!!!” he wrote. “I don’t like seeing you two face to face. Keep playing your gift at the piano … you and your brother are both brilliant and I am so proud to call you both mine.”

She ended her statement by writing, “Psss if you can sit down honestly and say with your right mind what memaw and paw paw did to me is good and call them not bad people… then yes I have failed as a mother and hopefully it’s a chat for you and your father to sit face to face and try to learn WHAT IS GOOD.”
