Singer Britney Spears has reportedly agreed to allow her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, to move to Hawaii with their two teenage sons.
The couple were married from 2004 to 2007 and share two children together: Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden James Federline, 16. A few years after their divorce, in 2013, K-Fed married volleyball player Victoria Prince, with whom he has several more many children together.
Victoria has reportedly been offered a job in the athletic department at a university in Hawaii, prompting the family to consider moving to the state this summer. Although Kevin threatened to take Britney to court to get a judge to approve the move, it appears that Britney has given her consent to allow her two sons – who are still minors – to make the move.

On Wednesday, May 31, Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart reportedly sent a letter to Kevin’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan. In the letter, as reported by Page Six, Rosengart said that Sean “will no longer be a minor” when he turns 18 in September. The family is looking to make the move on August 1st.
Additionally, Rosengart also notes that Jayden, at 16, is also “approaching puberty.” According to the letter, Rosengart wrote, “To her credit, Britney Spears will not intervene and agree to the relocation.” Therefore, Kevin does not have to involve the courts and can proceed with the family’s move to Hawaii as planned.

However, Rosengart’s letter did not end there. She went on to say that she “didn’t expect a dispute” when Kevin’s lawyer first contacted her about the move in April. At the time, he said he had urged K-Fed and its legal team to ensure the possible move was “solely for the sake and dignity of all parties involved, including the children.”
“I am deeply concerned that your client previously – and egregiously – violated their privacy, while severely violating Britney’s privacy, by releasing private videos of Britney with her children, preceded by a tabloid television interview,” Rosengart wrote, referring to the three videos that posted by Kevin and then quickly deleted on Instagram.

The video, which appears to have been shot by her two sons, appears to be filming Britney without her knowledge. While some users felt that Kevin was trying to use the video to show an example of “bad parenting,” most fans actually supported Britney, and said that the video made it seem like she was just trying to do her best.
Rosengart also slammed Kaplan for making the move headlines, as Kaplan has spoken to both TMZ and Entertainment Tonight about the move and how they plan to take Britney to court. An article published just a day before Britney gave her consent said that Kevin only gave her until the end of the week before he would begin the process of involving a judge.

In his letter, Rosengart wrote, “It is more than disappointing that you have nevertheless chosen to publicize this matter, creating unnecessary drama and false ‘controversy’ by publicly discussing your issue and letter,”
“When I called you yesterday to express my disappointment that you had done so, you denied doing so. Apparently, you don’t realize it [TMZ’s] The May 30 story itself cited you as the source of the story,” he revealed. Rosengart said that Kevin’s lawyers “didn’t serve a good purpose” in talking to the media, calling them “disrespectful, disrespectful, and unnecessary.”

“It is also ironic, given the statement in your April 28 letter that in addition to a job opportunity in Hawaii for Mr. Federline’s wife, the children want ‘more protection from media scrutiny.’ That is commendable,” he continued to write. “But your media interviews do nothing to protect them; instead, it publicizes the issue in the media.”
Rosengart went on to praise Britney as “an icon, loved and respected by millions around the world.” Although it has been reported that she has not physically seen her two sons in over a year, Rosengart continues to call Britney a “loving and supportive mother” who is still “loyally supportive” of her children despite their estrangement.
