Broadway will recognize the life, legacy and success of Dame Angela Lansbury this weekend.
The Great White Way will be dimmed on October 15, in honor of the legendary actor.

On Thursday, October 13, the Broadway League announced that it would dim all the marquees on Broadway in Lansbury’s memory.
The commemoration will last for one minute and take place on Saturday.
President of the Broadway League, Charlotte St. Martin, said in a statement,
“Angela Lansbury is undoubtedly one of Broadway’s most sought-after leading actresses and her influence on the world of musical theater will last forever.”

Lansbury is synonymous with Broadway.
His contribution in live theater will never be forgotten.
“It’s impossible to think of Broadway and not be reminded of Ms. Lansbury and some of her most iconic roles — from ‘Mame’ and ‘Gpsy’ to ‘Sweeney Todd’ — just to name a few,” Martin’s statement continued. “We consider him Broadway royalty and a member of our family. Although aware that Hollywood thinks the same way. We’re just proud he’s ours too! Along with her legendary career and brilliant talent, it is her grace, charisma and kindness that we will remember the great Angela Lansbury.”

The star is best known for her roles in “Murder She Wrote,” “Beauty In The Beast” as Mrs. Potts, the singing teapot, and “Mary Poppins Returns.”
His family announced the passing of the 96-year-old man.
“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are saddened to announce that their mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1.30am today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022,” the statement said.
It also noted that Lansbury was “just five days shy of his 97th birthday.”
Lansbury is a highly decorated actor with several awards from Tonys to Academy Awards.

He won an honorary Academy Award in 2014, a BAFTA in 1991 for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, a BAFTA/LA Britannia Award for Lifetime Achievement in Television and Film. He also won five Tony Awards.

“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill remembered Lansbury on Twitter sharing a sweet tribute.
