An Australian mother is calling for a boycott of a local gelato shop after the owner evicted four families whose children reportedly threw tantrums over having to share spoons — but her request sparked a heated debate online, with many siding with the business owner .
Laura Edwards posted a video of an Italian cafe and gelateria called Adelle’s Cafe on Magnetic Island stating that the family was kicked out because their toddler was crying, the Townsville Bulletin reported.
“Adelle’s Cafe – don’t support it,” Edwards said as he filmed the outside of the local establishment. “It’s disgusting. Do not support this business.”
Children’s cries can be heard in the background of the clip.
But cafe co-owner Adrian Dalloste told the local publication that Edwards did not witness the entire situation involving children crying and screaming for about 15 minutes and that he was confused by his decision to intervene.

“Both kids became upset when told they would be sharing the gelato between them, one of the kids swiped the decoration off the counter and threw the steel flask on the tile floor,” Dalloste said.
He said the children were too loud to disturb other customers.
“For about 15 minutes the child cried and screamed, disturbing other customers who were trying to enjoy their food and [the] cafe atmosphere,” he told the Bulletin. “The cries and screams were continuous and loud.”

He said he politely asked the family to leave and apologized as he did so, but the father became aggressive and they refused to leave at first, threatening to call the police.
“I walked back to the cafe to avoid any further confrontation because they were getting quite loud,” said the co-owner.
Edwards, who has three children of his own, despised Dalloste for his decision to evict the family.

“It’s not turmoil or anger, my children make more noise than these children, it’s just a gray-haired child who needs help to sort out his emotions at the time,” he told the Bulletin. “Parents sit with them, they don’t riot.”
Online, many commenters said Edwards should just mind his own business.
“Good on business owners, I’ll do it [sic] do the same thing. He has an obligation to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience. I have children and when they were little, if they continued to live like brats, I would [sic] packed up and left out of respect for others,” said one woman, according to the Daily Mail.
“Responsible parents should have taught such children how to behave and show respect to others or remove them from annoying others,” another commenter added.
