After issuing an apology on Friday after video surfaced showing workers at an Oakland coffee shop blocking a Jewish woman from the bathroom while making anti-Israel comments, the owner has now fired the employee allegedly involved in the altercation.
“On Sunday, we failed to achieve this vision. What began as a civil dialogue between our staff and Jewish customers escalated into a shocking and unacceptable situation. Events like this instill fear in the Jewish community and perpetuate the rise of anti-Semitism in our community and around the world,” Amy and Chris Hillyard, owners of Farley’s posted on social media.
The owner went on to say that acts of hate will not be tolerated in their business.
“We do not tolerate any behavior at Farley’s that makes people feel unwelcome or unsafe. Because this act was inconsistent with our values, the employee involved in the incident is no longer employed by Farley’s,” Hillyard wrote.
The video recorded by the customer shows three employees standing between the customer and the bathroom door.
According to the video, the customer had previously gone into the bathroom and wanted to go back in to document the antisemitic graffiti.
The worker allegedly wanted to stop the woman from recording graffiti in the bathroom, which showed “Zionism = fascism” written on the mirror above the sink and “Your neutrality/indifference enables genocide” written on the diaper changing station.

The workers also accused the woman of “misgendering” an employee.
After allowing the woman into the bathroom, the workers were heard shouting, “History didn’t start in 1948, ma’am,” and “Free Palestine.”
In their initial statement of apology, Farley’s Coffee posted on their Instagram page Wednesday, insisting that they are not antisemitic and promising “ongoing staff training” following the incident.

“We are committed to working with community leaders and organizations throughout the Bay Area to ensure that we as owners, and our employees, have the resources, education and skills necessary to exist peacefully in this community. We look forward to continuing to have the privilege of serving our community and once again being a coffee shop where everyone feels welcome,” the company said.
Farley’s Coffee did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Sunday.
