On Monday night, Deadline reported that Mayim Bialik’s Fox sitcom “Call Me Kat” has halted production following the tragic passing of Leslie Jordan. Jordan had portrayed the character of Phil since season 1 and had completed work on nine episodes of the series before his death.
Star Mayim Bialik, the actress and producer mourned Jordan’s passing in a joint statement, calling her “gentle, smart, mischievous and funny.”
“There are no words to express the loss we have experienced as a Call Me Kat cast and family. Leslie Jordan was larger than life,” the statement said. “He was a Southern man; gentle, smart, mischievous, and funny. We knew and loved him at the height of his joy and happiness and couldn’t imagine a world without our Leslie: the man who would spit on his contact lenses before putting them in his eyes, the man who had a story about every man in Hollywood and some women too, the man who lived for make people laugh. We will take time to grieve and celebrate the many gifts that Leslie gave to us and to the world and we appreciate privacy during this time.”

Mayim Bialik also used Twitter to share some behind-the-scenes photos. “The Big Bang Theory” alum tweeted, “They broke the mold when they cast Leslie Jordan. She was a dear mentor and friend. I will miss her so much – can’t imagine she’s gone. Rest in peace, sweet friend.”

“Will & Grace” star Sean Hayes, who played Jack on the series, was among the first to mourn Leslie Jordan’s passing on social media.
“My heart is broken,” she tweeted. “Leslie Jordan is one of the funniest people I’ve ever worked with. Everyone who met him, loved him. There will never be anyone like him. A unique talent with a big and loving heart. You will be missed, my dear friend.”
