Jepsen Gets Comfortable With The Concept Of Loneliness For ‘The Loneliest Time’
Exploring the concept of silence did not begin with the recording of the album; Jepsen details his relationship with loneliness and how he incorporates it into his music.

Jepsen described the record as “a lifelong investigation that I’ve had about my relationship with silence,” he told The Cut (per The Blast) in October. He continued, “The idea that you have to be happy with yourself- like, ‘Go be alone and be happy!’- b***s**t to me. You’ll be happy when you know you have a connection out there.”
However, knowing this did not stop Jepsen from exploring his relationship with himself.
“The Loveliest Time,” which Jepsen describes as a continuation of “The Loneliest Time” rather than his ‘traditional’ method of releasing B-side albums, continues to celebrate the study of self-knowledge and refuses to turn his back on them. the part you prefer to hide.

As he continues the concept of self-exploration in “The Loveliest Time,” it seems that Jepsen is not afraid to hold space for all elements of his personality.
Ahead of the record’s July 28 release, Jepsen spoke with Rolling Stone and revealed all the secrets behind “The Loveliest Time,” including how she continues to see herself.
“The Finest Time is more about ownership [yourself],” the “Talking To Yourself” singer told writer Brittany Spanos. “I have found it. I know what is good, what is bad, what is bad, and everything. You take that lesson, learn from it but go back out into the wider world and be ready to face it,” he explained.
“There are so many flowers in many of my images because I love the idea of burying yourself in this clean dirt, and the beautiful growth that can happen from this,” Jepsen continued. “I want it to feel like growth and celebration. That is the main concept for me,” he said.

Jepsen finds it important to combine the concepts of being awake, conscious, and alive amidst the inevitable dull moments of life.
“It’s funny because a lot of the songs are about that wild feeling that you’ll do anything to make yourself feel alive,” the singer explained. “Opening with ‘Anything to Be With You’ shows the feeling of ‘We’ll make it happen’. It’s a little movie-esque in that way. But I want my life to feel wild like that. And a lot of the songs were written from a place where I had yet to meet anyone that I was so excited about; it’s a longing for that,” Jepsen continued. “It’s a strange thing in life imitating art because I feel like I’ve written all these experiences that now in real life I’m going to have, and it’s odd to write them first and then as it happened afterwards,” he said.
Jepsen had what many might describe as “the moment” that he detailed in a recent Instagram post. He revealed he was once the answer to a New York Times crossword puzzle!
“The Loveliest Time” will be released on July 28.
