Crew members of a Carnival cruise ship rescued two men stranded in the Gulf of Mexico Monday.
Workers aboard the Jubilee Carnival saw the couple paddling in a small yellow and orange kayak off the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
The men were rowing kayaks alongside the large cruise ship and crew members helped them aboard, according to cruise lines and rescue photos.
They said their boat had capsized and they were using kayaks to survive, Karnival said in a statement.
Once safely aboard the cruise ship, the pair were assessed by Carnival medical staff and given first aid and food and water.
Crew members notified staff at Carnival’s fleet operations center in Miami of their rescue and the two contacted Mexican Navy officials. They arranged the evacuation and a Navy boat came to pick up the two kayakers shortly after the initial rescue, Carnival said.

The cruise ship then continued its voyage — heading to Mahogany Bay, Roatan which it visited on Tuesday.
The rescue is the second time a Carnival ship has rescued a stranded person at sea in a little over a month.

The carnival officer on board spotted the men on a bright orange life raft reflecting light through the early morning darkness and brought them aboard.
The man’s small cargo ship capsized overnight and the six others on board boarded another life raft – which was later spotted and rescued by the Coast Guard.
The dramatic rescue was filmed by a Carnival Vista passenger who posted the clip to TikTok. One person off camera can be heard exclaiming how “crazy” the experience was in the video.
