Todd Fisher, the only brother of “Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher, made new comments about his relationship with Carrie’s daughter, Billie Lourd.
The family drama hit the headlines this week after two of Todd and Carrie’s sisters – Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher – told the media to reveal that their niece did not invite them to Carrie’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, May 4, in conjunction with Star Day Wars.

After speaking with TMZ on two separate occasions this week, Todd Fisher is now speaking to Page Six about his relationship, or lack thereof, with his niece.
Todd admits that he hasn’t seen or spoken to Billie in years, admitting, “It’s been a while.”
“We don’t have an explanation for the blackout, which is pretty bad,” he said. “But we respect the fact that we were told that he really struggled with the loss of his mother. That’s what was told.”
“So, therefore, I respect his feelings. We now know that it’s not really about that,” he continued. “It’s probably entangled in this notion that somehow someone is exploiting his mother’s death in some way.”

Carrie Fisher died on December 27, 2016. Just four days before her death, she was on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Fifteen minutes before the flight landed, he had a medical emergency. He was rushed to intensive care, but unfortunately, could not be revived. His mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, died of a stroke the next day as the family worked through funeral arrangements.

“A few days after my mother died, her brother and sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing several interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with the death of my mother and grandmother as the subject,” wrote Billie in a long statement. “I found out they had done this through the press.”
However, Todd insists that he never tried to profit from the death of his sister and mother. “We found out the whole reason was that he was mad that I wrote the book or that I somehow made money from this, which is simply not true,” he told the publication.

On Wednesday, the two brothers released a joint statement on Instagram, writing, “In response to all of you asking if we will be a part of the celebration….”
“It is strange that we will not be present to celebrate our sister, whom we adore. For some strange and perverted reason, our niece chose not to include us in this epic moment in our sister’s career,” they wrote. “This is something that Carrie would have wanted her siblings to be present for. The fact that her only brother and two sisters were intentionally and deliberately excluded was shocking.”
“We’ve all been grieving the loss of our loved one for several years now…we’ve given Billie the space to do it her way,” they continued. “We are nothing but loving and open, consistently. This isn’t about a photo op on Hollywood Blvd…it’s about celebrating the immortality of Carrie’s legacy in the industry, taking her place with the stars on the iconic journey of fame with our parents.”

Regardless, it seems the family’s “feud” doesn’t exist. In her statement, Billie Lourd wrote, “The press release Todd Fisher provided to TMZ and the post Joely Fisher posted on Instagram, once again confirmed that my instincts were correct.”
“To be clear – there was no disagreement. We had no relationship,” he continued. “This was a conscious decision on my part to break a cycle with a way of life that I did not want for myself or my children.”
