Cars block FedEx semi while dozens pillage packages, leave boxes scattered everywhere

A FedEx tractor trailer was blocked by several cars at an intersection in Memphis, Tennessee, before dozens of people looted the back of the truck for packages, leaving boxes strewn across the street during the weekend theft.

Video from the scene shows several people running through cars parked in the street toward a FedEx truck as the driver tries to escape the vandals carrying their loot.

Several men allegedly used an unknown tool to open the safety latch on the truck’s tightly closed back door and took many packages, the driver said, according to several local reports.

When police officers arrived, several vehicles were seen speeding away Saturday night, the Memphis Police Department said, according to Fox13 Memphis.

The large-scale theft occurred at Mallory and Riverport in the city’s South Memphis neighborhood.

A resident said he was fed up with the crime that took place in the burglary area on Saturday.

“My point is somebody’s going to get killed,” Vivica Shumpert told WHBQ. “And the people who pay taxes, we should have more security, better security for people who pay property taxes and who want to live safely and peacefully.”
