On the final day of the hearing, Cassidy shared some harrowing details about the final days of the Trump administration leading up to and during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
He told a story that was both heartbreaking and funny, in which Donald Trump demanded to be taken to the Capitol but was told by the Secret Service that he needed to return to the West Wing for his own safety. “I am the new president. Take me to the Capitol now” he reportedly said. Cassidy claims that former President Trump attacked Secret Service Agent Bobby Engel in an attempt to choke him after not getting a pass. It resembles a small rebellion in the car.
The Los Angeles Times also reported some sobering details from Cassidy’s testimony. One of them included him and White House deputy chief of staff Tony Ornato told Mark Meadows that “the Jan. 6 rally crowd was dripping with guns, knives, body armor, bear spray, even flagpoles, as Ornato told Meadows , with ‘ effing spears.’” Meadows’ reply was a curt, “Okay. Anything else?” while barely looking up from his phone.
Later, Cassidy noted that Trump learned that former Attorney General Bill Barr had told the Associated Press that he had lost the 2020 election. “I remember hearing the noise,” Cassidy said. It came from the White House dining room. “I first noticed there was ketchup dripping on the wall and there were broken porcelain plates on the floor”.
It seems former President Trump had an unhappy meal, throwing his entire plate at the wall. No one can dispute Cassidy Hutchinson’s achievement of her goals today; it seems he came to Washington, DC, with the intention of making a difference.
