Pop star Britney Spears finally got a chance to tell her story with her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” and now those around her are getting a chance to tell theirs, too.
A celebrity photographer recalled the time the “Toxic” singer was so “responsible” in a 2004 photo shoot that she told her father, Jamie Spears, to “get out” years before she was placed in court-ordered conservatorship for 13 years.

Celebrity photographer Markus Klinko reflects on working with the Princess of Pop for her Hotel Onyx tour when the now 41-year-old pop star was just 22 years old. The celebrity photographer didn’t just think about Britney’s presence in the room but also about her relationship with her estranged relationship with her 71-year-old father.
“It’s an interesting dynamic given everything that happened later, that he was in charge,” Klinko told Page Six. “Probably no one but David Bowie, I would say, was so creatively in charge and didn’t ask management, publicists or anybody for a second opinion.” Although both Jamie Spears and Britney’s former manager, Larry Rudolph, were present at the shoot, Klinko still remembers how Britney called all the pictures.

Klinko recalled an incident when Britney was photographed in bed in her underwear. When Jamie interrupted the scene, Britney immediately told him to leave, Klinko recalled. “That’s very interesting. When I shot Britney in bed … she was wearing very revealing underwear playing on the bed with pillows and all that,” Klinko said. “But at one point, he noticed that his dad came with the set. He just wandered in and he immediately grabbed the blanket, covered himself and he said, ‘Dad, come out! I’m doing something.'”
“He left immediately,” said the photographer. “Although his father and his management were all present at the location, they all went to play cards in the back room for the next 12 hours and barely showed up.”
Britney’s Stylist Hires Klinko To Work With Pop Princess

Markus Klinko revealed that Britney’s stylists, the legendary duo of Kurt Swanson and Bart Mueller, aka Kurt & Bart, hired her for the show. “They called me and they said, ‘Britney wants to hire you for a very, very personal project for her tour.’ I was obviously fascinated by the idea and just kind of behind it [shooting] Beyoncé ‘Dangerously in Love’ [album art],” he has explained. “I was getting a lot of music requests at the time, but nothing was better or more interesting to me than hearing from Britney – and especially through an almost personal channel. It feels very personal.”
Britney herself traveled from Los Angeles to Klinko’s studio in New York City to execute a specific vision that she actually created herself. He only had a few days to build the set around his idea. “[Kurt & Bart] sent via a [photo] from a napkin where Britney had put some inspirational keywords that she wanted to incorporate into our photo shoot and some of these keywords were ‘ice princess,’ ‘enchanted forest’ and ‘jazz lounge,’” she recalled. “He and I really work very closely as a creative team.”
However, even though she has a lot of ideas, Klinko wouldn’t call her a diva. “He’s very process-oriented and … he gives it 100 percent,” he added, revealing that the entire shoot took 14 hours to complete. “Never once did he say, ‘Oh, it’s late, I’m tired.’ He was like, ‘What do we do next?’”

Despite being bullied by his father, Markus Klinko admits that he still loves his bedroom series the most. “I love the bedroom series. He really enjoyed it. And then with the interesting moment with his father appearing for a moment, it kind of broke the atmosphere for a few minutes,” he said. “It probably takes him five minutes to get back into playful mode once he’s gone. He was a bit shocked maybe, I would say, for a minute or two.
“She’s just posing in bed in a Marilyn Monroe-ish but updated, 2000s kind of way,” she explained. “In 2004, I had already seen my share of the most beautiful supermodels and celebrities on Earth. But when Britney walked into the room, she took my breath away. I thought to myself, ‘This is probably the most attractive woman on the planet.’” He went on to say, “She stands out to me as the ultimate goddess.”
Now that his conservatorship is over, Klinko said that he would like to work with him again if he comes down for a new photo shoot. “I’ll bet you anything if I get six hours or eight hours with Britney in the next few weeks or whatever I can’t just repeat [the Onyx Hotel tour book shoot] but I can overcome it,” he said. “[Her current team knows] that this is the offer I made and I am waiting. This is now 20 years later. This is Britney in a completely different situation. He has his powers back.”
