After her marriage in 2006, she became a director of the now defunct BGC International, BGC Properties, BGC Tab Motels and BGC Developers Pvt Ltd, her husband’s company. In 2019, he established TIME children’s preschool in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. However, in 2021, he announced his intention to sell the preschool on his Facebook account. In 2022, she started working as a makeup artist in Bangalore. She runs an Instagram page titled ‘Get Gorgeous with Chythrra,’ where she takes bookings and regularly posts pictures of her work.

FIR Against Father-in-law and Husband (2022)
In May 2022, she lodged an FIR against her father-in-law, MK Potaraju, and her husband, Balaji Pothraj, with the Jayalakshmipuram police in Mysore after accusing them of misusing her bank account at South Indian Bank. His complaint stated that the duo had taken gold loans on his account without his knowledge. Furthermore, the branch manager of the bank had also conspired with the accused. The police booked both of them under Sections 468, 406, 409, 420, 506, and 34 of the IPC. Following her complaint, she also claimed to have received death threats from her father-in-law and her husband. Earlier, in 2021, after Balaji Pothraj filed for divorce from her, she registered an FIR against him for domestic violence. In June 2022, the Karnataka High Court stayed the FIR after senior advocate MS Shyam Sundar, who represented Pothraj and his father, argued that Chaitra made a false complaint when Balaji Pothraj filed a divorce case against her.
