By then, Jha had started earning a decent income, and he used to help migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar get jobs and accommodation in Delhi. He used to get angry about small things like eating non-vegetarian food, smoking, drinking, and having an affair. He lost his temper over such issues and ended up killing the person (the person doing such activities). His first murder was in 1998 when he killed Mangal, alias Aurangzeb, in Adarsh Nagar. Jha has some psychological problems that lead him to commit heinous crimes. Jha’s first mistake was sending a letter to the police after leaving the body of his fourth victim (Amit) in front of Tihar on October 20. Jha had blamed former Additional Deputy Commissioner Manish Agarwal and Head Constable Balbir Singh in the letter for forcing him to resort to the massacre. In the letter, Jha also confessed to having committed a murder in November 2003 and dumped the body near Tihar. It proved that he had already left Tihar in November 2003, so we had to find someone who had been deposited before 2003.”

They further shared how Jha was arrested,

Jha made another mistake by contacting the Hari Nagar SHO immediately after disposing of the body on October 20. We made sure the SHO talked to the killer as long as possible and got more leads. The conversation lasted for seven minutes. Our next clue is to compare the handwriting on the note found with the corpse and the externes handwritten statement. We suspect Jha is the killer but the difficult part is identifying his hideout as he changes his address every two weeks. We know of at least four hideouts: Yamuna Vihar, Alipur, Badola village and Haidarpur. Our last clue is that he drives a rickshaw attached to a scooter. We combed all four places and finally found him in Alipur when he was eating halwa with his children.”
