Charges filed in death of Texas teen who suffered severe burn injuries

Fox News

Texas police have filed charges against a man after a teenage girl died from burns she received last month.

Sebastian Lindsey, 23, faces manslaughter charges in the death of Madison Lewis, a 17-year-old girl from Jacksboro, Texas who died from her injuries on Sunday.

Lewis was sent to the emergency room on December 16 after suffering burns.

Witnesses told investigators there was a gathering of people behind a residence in the 600 block of West Pine, within the city limits of Jacksboro, where a small fire was burning inside a metal barrel.

Witnesses said Lewis was next to the barrel when an adult man – later identified as Lindsey – wanted to make the fire bigger so he took a petrol can and put petrol on the fire.

Gasoline and flames across the barrel set Lewis’s hair and clothes on fire.

Investigators later found that those present at the residence were afraid of getting into trouble because alcohol was on the premises.

Instead of calling 9-1-1, they drove the teenager to Faith Community Hospital in a private car.
