Charlamagne Tha God says Biden has ‘never been a good candidate,’ was elected due to ‘unfortunate events’

Multimedia mogul Charlamagne Tha God insists that President Biden’s dismal polling is due to how he was “never a good candidate” and was only elected in the first place because a “series of unfortunate events” prevented former President Trump from being re-elected.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, the “Breakfast Club” co-host reiterated his concern that Trump’s return to the White House would bring “the end of democracy,” which he said was the reason why he was so vocal against Biden’s candidacy and what he said was a bad message coming from him and its administration.

“Their messages are annoying. Even though they accomplished some good things while they were in the White House, nobody knew that,” Charlamagne said. “Like, you see an article where they say Barack Obama went to lunch with Joe Biden and lit a fire under a- Joe Biden about the campaign. And, you know, you heard my OG Jim Clyburn from South Carolina say he cares about Black voters in 2024. And the first thing Joe Biden went to do, he went to my hometown, Charleston, South Carolina, my birthplace, and he went to the Black church, and then he went to the soul food place. They’ve been doing the same thing— for years. Like, they’ve been doing the same old thing for years.”

“Democrats shouldn’t just worry about the Black vote, because when you look at the polls, he’s losing Black voters, he’s losing Latinos, he’s losing liberals, he’s losing the youth vote,” he continued. “It was like – shit! Do you all want to win or not? Because now they don’t look like the winning ticket.”

When asked why polls show Biden losing support among those voters, Charlamagne replied, “Because he’s not running as a candidate.”

“Why are we acting like President Biden used to be like a great presidential candidate?” exclaimed Charlamagne. “I mean, the guy has run a few times before and, you know, not even close. Like, if it wasn’t for a series of unfortunate circumstances in 2020, COVID in particular, the killing of George Floyd, like, you know, people who were in the streets protesting, rioting. And I think there will probably be a different result in 2020. So he was never a good candidate, as in the history of life! Just look at his previous running time records. I just don’t think- he is not a good messenger in any way, shape or form. I don’t think he inspires people. These candidates should inspire you.”

“I used to promote a party, man. And when I promote a party, people don’t just come to your party. You’ve got to go out there and, you know, promote, and you’ve got to offer stuff to people, whether it’s free drinks before 11 or free women before 11, like, you’ve got to offer stuff to people to give them the energy to want to go out to the party you. Nobody wants to party with Joe Biden!” Charlamagne chuckled.

“Like I said, it has to be a series of unfortunate, you know, life-changing, tragic events that make you say, ‘Okay, I’m going to the party.’ He is not inspiring in any way, shape or form. Maybe he needs it[s] to find some of that Obama, Bill Clinton energy to inspire people because, well, he’s not that.”

Charlamagne pointed out that the biggest issue presidential candidates should campaign on is “upward mobility,” asking the 2024 candidate, “How are you going to put money in people’s pockets?”

He said he hears from callers “every day” talking about their financial problems.

“How can I keep food on the table? How can I keep a roof over my head? We are talking about affordable healthcare, right?… You need money to even afford affordable healthcare. So, I mean, that’s what everybody needs to focus on. How can you put money in people’s pockets because that, you know, gives people a sense of security across the board,” Charlamagne said.

He recalled the stimulus checks sent to Americans during the COVID pandemic but said people only remember Trump doing it because of the way he marketed himself at the time, despite the fact that Biden also sent stimulus checks.

“Donald Trump put his name on the first two rounds of stimulus checks. There are people now talking about the $1,200 they received. And even Joe Biden—he did stimulus checks, too—people don’t remember that because—hey, let’s face it, he’s not as good at marketing, and he’s not as good at messaging as Donald Trump is,” Charlamagne said.

“That’s probably because Donald Trump has never been a career politician. Donald Trump is a celebrity. So Donald Trump knows how to, you know, keep the spotlight on himself. He knows how to take credit for things, even though he… probably shouldn’t get credit just because, you know, you have to give credit to Congress, but then the president signs it into law. But that only worked because he put money in people’s pockets. People will never forget when you put money in their pocket. That’s what candidates should focus on.”

In addition to being a giant on the radio, Charlamagne is expanding his footprint in the world of podcasts. Following the launch of his Black Effect podcast in 2020, he recently started the politically-focused Reasoned Choice Media Podcast Network, which he promises will be a platform that welcomes all viewpoints.

“Don’t think that this is a platform that’s going to be another liberal echo chamber,” Charlamagne told Fox News Digital. “We will have a conservative host. And we just hope that some real dialogue can start happening in this country. We need both parties to tell their truth. And the public, we, should be able to hear from both sides and make a choice about who they want to support.”

Reason Choice Media’s first podcast, Native Land Pod, co-hosted by former CNN contributor Angela Rye, former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross, and former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, has made headlines with Rye accusing her former CNN colleague Chris Cuomo of calling her a “tinsel crotch .”
