Charlemagne Tha God feels ‘burned’ by Biden endorsement, says Kamala Harris ‘disappeared’

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God said he regrets backing the Biden ticket in 2020, Politico reported Tuesday, and said he felt like Vice President Kamala Harris “disappeared” when they arrived at the White House.

Charlamagne, host of “The Breakfast Club,” also told the outlet that he doesn’t plan to endorse Presidents Biden and Harris in 2024, as he feels “burnt” about his support in 2020.

“I’ve learned my lesson from doing that,” he told Politico. “Once they got into the White House, he … kind of disappeared.”

“When I give people words like: ‘Yeah man, I think we should support Kamala Harris for vice president… because she’s going to hold it.’ When we say that and people don’t see him hold it back, that causes problems,” Charlamagne continued.

He also said he is still receiving a response to his endorsement in 2020.

“‘Damn, you told us to vote [them].’ Do you know how many people say that to me all the time?” he said.

The radio host endorsed the ticket in 2020 because Biden chose Harris as his running mate. “I voted for Kamala Harris, I’ll tell you in a second. I didn’t necessarily vote for Joe Biden, I voted for Senator Kamala Harris,” he said at the time.

“I believe he is an agent of political change, really the leader of this country needs to lead us in the future. If he doesn’t, I’ll be wrong,” Charlamagne said in October 2020. “I’m so tired of the old white male leadership in politics.”

Charlamagne was joined by Harris for an interview in December 2021 that quickly became heated after the host asked who the “real” president was.

“I want to know who the real president of this country is – is it Joe Biden, or Joe Manchin?” Charlamagne asked on his Comedy Central show, “Tha God’s Honest Truth,” as he and Harris discussed Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin’s opposition to spending legislation being debated on Capitol Hill.

The interview went awry when one of Harris’ assistants tried to come in and end it, but Harris answered the question.

“Come on, Charlamagne,” he said. “No, no, no, no, that’s Joe Biden,” he repeated as he tried to give his reasoning for the question.

“And don’t start talking like a Republican, about asking if he’s the president or not. … And Joe Biden, Joe Biden, and I’m the vice president and my name is Kamala Harris,” he added.

The radio host also said he doesn’t expect Harris or Biden to join his show for any interviews in 2024. He interviewed the president in 2020, which ended with Biden telling listeners “you’re not Black” if they had trouble deciding between him and Trump.
