Chaz Legere’s death has shocked his relatives and close friends. Legere, a former UNC hockey player, died at his home on December 16 at the age of 27. It was only on December 20th that individuals outside of his immediate family learned of his death through a Facebook post made by UNC Bear Hockey. Most, if not all, who have come in contact with Chaz have only positive things to say about him. Chaz’s hockey career never progressed to the professional level, and he retired shortly after graduation in 2019. Chaz had worked with the Modern Woodmen of America and worked in sales before his death. Chaz’s brother, Max, revealed the facts about his brother’s death on his Instagram page. We are praying for the Legere family at this difficult time.
UNC Hockey Chaz Legere Death and Obituary
Chaz Legere, former UNC hockey player, died suddenly at the early age of 27. Chaz, who hails from Superior, Colorado, played college hockey at UNC for four years. Chaz’s death was revealed on the UNC Bears Hockey Facebook page. In a website, it said, “The UNC Hockey family is mourning the loss of former player Chaz Legere, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday.”
They also expressed their sympathy to the Legere family in a Facebook message. Brad Pershing, a close friend of the Legere family, also posted a lengthy Facebook message to express his grief over the former hockey player’s death. Pershing wrote. Chaz has a great effect on everyone he meets and can make anyone in the room laugh. Chaz’s friends refer to him as “Cheese,” and Pershing highlighted it in his Facebook post. He wrote, “Cheese We Will Miss Forever.” Brad concluded the statement by paying his respects to the fallen soul and asking that he keep everyone safe.
Chaz Legere’s Cause of Death
Max, Chaz’s brother, is not very active on Facebook, and his last post was three years ago. However, on his Instagram page, Max acknowledged the death of his brother and revealed the cause. She shared a collection of photos of her and Chaz with their family members, noting that Chaz died at 2am on December 16. Max described how he found his brother’s body in the caption of an Instagram image. Max found his brother lying lifeless and performed CPR for fifteen minutes. She then waited another 30 minutes for the EMTs to revive her sister, but they could not.
Max said he was hanging out with his brother 20 minutes before his death, and they were having a good time. She wrote about the impact Chaz had on everyone and how much she will miss her little brother. It’s scary to see someone younger than you die, especially if it’s your brother. Max believes it’s unfair that his little brother died so young and it doesn’t make sense.
Chaz’s Future After Hockey
Chaz appeared in 48 games over four years at UNC. He was a striker who scored one goal in his first year. So it was evident that Legere was not interested in playing professional hockey. Chaz, who graduated from UNC with a communications degree in 2019, became the financial representative for Modern Woodmen of America. He spent a year there before joining Power Home Remodeling.
Chaz works in sales at Power House Remodeling. Looking at his LinkedIn profile, Chaz is probably looking for a new job, as he uses the title “Open For Work.” Chaz has several Instagram posts, mostly featuring members of his family. Chaz’s previous post was in January this year, when he went to a sporting event with his brother and dad.
