Check Out A Sneak Peek Of Britney Spears’ Memoir ‘The Woman In Me’

Fans of pop star Britney Spears have less than a week to wait until her new memoir “The Woman In Me” hits shelves on Tuesday, October 24.

The memoir promises to unravel Britney’s strained relationship with her family, her love life, her illustrious career in the entertainment industry, and, of course, her controversial 13-year conservatorship.

On Tuesday, a week before the release of her bombshell memoir, People magazine released an excerpt from Britney’s memoir. The 41-year-old pop star described herself as a “child robot” after being “invulnerable” during her conservatorship.

“I became a robot. But not just a robot – a kind of childish robot. I had become so childish that I lost pieces of what made me feel like myself,” wrote Britney in her memoirs. “Conservation has stripped me of my femininity, turning me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person on stage. I have always felt music in my bones and blood; they stole that from me.”

The 41-year-old pop star went on to say that she felt “like a shadow of myself” and went on to say that she had been “robbed” of her freedom. He went on to write:

“This is what’s hard to explain, how quickly I can vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they’ve taken away my freedom. There was no way to behave like an adult, because they wouldn’t treat me like an adult, so I would step back and act like a little girl; but then my grown-up self would retreat – only my world wouldn’t let me grow up.”

The “Toxic” singer went on to discuss her inner oppression, writing, “The woman in me has been rejected for a long time. They want me to be wild on stage, like they tell me, and be a robot all the time. I feel like I have been stripped of those secrets of the good life — the cardinal sins of the pleasures and adventures that make us human. They want to take away that privilege and keep everything as rote as possible. It’s death to my creativity as an artist .”

In a People magazine cover story, the “Circus” singer revealed that she prefers to live a low-key lifestyle. “I play with my dog… [or] watch an episode of Friends and belly laugh. I love, love to travel and explore,” she said, adding, “I’m a simple girl.” He also discussed why he decided to release a memoir.

“For the past 15 years or even at the beginning of my career, I sat while people talked about me and told my story for me,” he said. “After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”

Unfortunately, remembering the past is not easy. “It’s hard to say,” Britney said, adding that the memoir includes “not having a moment of peace, judgment from strangers who didn’t know me, my freedom being taken away from me by my family and the government. [and] losing my passion for the things I love.”

“It’s time for me to raise my voice and speak up, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me,” he added. “No more conspiracies, no more lies – only I own my past, present and future.”

While fans will no doubt get a lot of new information from her memoir, she just wants them to remember one thing: “Talk. Speak up. Know your worth. Inspire people and most importantly, just be nice.”

“The Woman In Me” will be released on Tuesday, October 24. An audiobook version of his memoir will also be released. The introduction will be read by the “Piece of Me” singer, while the rest of the memoir will be read by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams.
