Chendall Weaver believes her parents got her athletic DNA right. Shonda Perkins, the Texas Longhorn player’s mother, is his biggest fan and can often be seen on the court cheering him on. Weaver, 20, transferred to the University of Texas after playing as a freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington. Chendall (pronounced KEN-dull) averaged 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists at UTA.
Weaver, a 6’3 guard, graduated from Mansfield Timberview High School where he averaged 17 points and eight rebounds as a senior. Weaver’s recent performance in Texas has made him famous. His coach, Rodney Terry, praised his performance against Baylor, saying Weaver has excelled at his position since the beginning of the season. Weaver came off the bench against Oklahoma and scored a season-best 11 points in 27 minutes.

Shonda Perkins was born in Texas and currently lives in Mansfield, Texas. Perkins has made several Instagram photos of attending Chendall games and wearing Longhorns merchandise. Shonda is currently a third grade teacher at Imogene Gideon Elementary School. During the League Championship Series between the Rangers and Astros, Shonda wore a Rangers t-shirt to school with the rest of the teaching staff. Last year, Shonda posted a beautiful photo of herself getting an autograph from her son. Shonda has been a huge Chendall fan since the beginning, and she even has a Chendall Weaver t-shirt signed by her son.
Shonda’s page includes not only her son’s achievements, but also those of her classmates. Last year, she posted a photo of her kids with bottle buddies for Black History Month. Shonda just tweeted praise for her son’s performance against Baylor. The Longhorns beat the Bears 75-73, with Weaver contributing just two points, but as Shonda noted, he had a significant impact with two free throws and great defense.
Chendall Weaver Siblings: Connections to WNBA Players
The Texas athlete has three siblings: two brothers and a sister. His two older brothers, Cameron Cosey and Chandler Carter, have kept a quiet profile. They appear on Shonda’s Instagram account occasionally. Chendall’s older brother, Cameron Cosey, turned 29 on January 1, and their mother shared a collection of photos. Chendall has a close relationship with former WNBA player Chennedy Carter, unknown to many. Carter and Weaver are half-siblings. Chennedy Carter played three years of college basketball at Texas A&M. He played 88 games at Texas A&M, averaging 22.5 points, 4.06 assists and 4.18 rebounds.
Chennedy, a shooting guard, declared for the WNBA draft in 2020, skipping her senior season. The Atlanta Dream selected Chennedy in the first round as the fourth overall pick. This makes him the most drafted player in Texas A&M history. Chenney was enjoying a successful debut season until his ankle injury. She scored at least 25 points four times and was nominated to the 2020 WNBA All-Rookie team. Chennedy signed with the Turkish Elzaig basketball team shortly after her debut season in the WNBA. In 2022, Chennedy joined the Los Angeles Sparks and appeared in 24 games. Chennedy averaged 8.9 points and 1.9 assists.
