After a year together, Cher and her boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards are still in a strong and loving relationship.
Despite her previous revelations that the relationship had rekindled her faith in love, the singer has now revealed that she nearly ruined her romance with the music executive.
The admission comes after reports that Cher made an unusual intervention for her son, Elijah Allman, by allegedly “kidnapping” him.
Cher Almost Missed Out On Love Because Of The Age Difference Between Them
Cher’s relationship with Alexander began at Paris Fashion Week last year when she met him and rapper Tyga. Although he didn’t initially realize who the 37-year-old was, he became engaged in conversation after his friend pushed him to ask about what he thought was a grill.
However, the object turned out to be the teeth of a Universal Music Group executive. After they were spotted hanging out in the city, Alexander contacted the singer’s friend, Loree Rodkin, about a picture of him with her.

Since then, the father of one started messaging Cher directly. Although the “Strong Enough” singer joked about her age early on, their communication continued and eventually led to their romance. She opened up about the relationship during an interview with ET about his first holiday album, “Christmas,” stated,
“I was in a place where I couldn’t do much and I kept saying, ‘I’m not the right woman for you. First of all, I’m 100 years older than you. And secondly, your friend [wouldn’t think you were] cool if you get caught hanging out with me you know?’ He said, ‘Why don’t you let me be the judge?’ And then, we just happened.
The award-winning entertainer proved her delight about Alexander not backing down romantically despite her insistence on their 40-year age gap, when she spoke warmly of him during a December 2022 appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” While there, she praised the man for being “very nice,” “very smart,” “very talented” and “very funny.”
“On paper, it’s a bit of a no-brainer. But, in real life, we get along well. He’s great and I don’t give men qualities they don’t deserve. And I think he’s pretty handsome,” Cher explained about their pairing.
The “If These Walls Could Talk” actress and Alexander had a brief split in May, with people speculating their split was amicable. However, by September, they were spotted back together, holding hands outside the Italian restaurant, Funke, located in Beverly Hills.:

Cher is reportedly deeply concerned about her 47-year-old son, who has struggled with drug addiction. Fearing for his life while staying at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, his fears escalated when news broke that hotel staff found Elijah unconscious on September 14. In the words of an insider:
“Elijah is not well. When Cher was told that she had been found unconscious outside the hotel, she went into extreme intervention and called 911 and had her moved to a treatment facility. Cher is desperate to help her son. He was afraid he might die if he didn’t do something drastic.”
The incident at the Chateau Marmont isn’t the first time the “Stuck on You” star has taken immediate steps to get professional help for her son. Elijah’s estranged wife, King, revealed that during the week of their joint anniversary in November 2022, Cher sent four individuals to remove him from their New York hotel room.
King, whom Elijah met in Germany, described this shocking episode in a court declaration in the middle of their divorce proceedings. While the Kennedy Center Honors recipient explained that his intention was to reconcile their differences and save their marriage, King admitted that it was an intervention prompted by concerns about his ex-partner’s health and struggles with drug abuse.
In her declaration, King said she had no information about her estranged husband’s “well-being or whereabouts,” but she was aware that he was currently receiving treatment at a secure facility.
