Marieangela King spills all the details about her frosty relationship with her mother-in-law, Cher.
The two were recently embroiled in a legal battle to place a conservatorship over Elijah Blue Allman – Cher’s son and King’s husband. Conservation was ultimately not granted, an outcome King said he was “happy about”.

Marieangela King’s issue with music icon Cher has made headlines. The two have been embroiled in a court battle, most notably over placing a conservatorship on 47-year-old Elijah.
Although things may seem a little frosty for them at the moment, there are times when they admire each other. In an interview with Daily Mail, King recalls such moments, particularly the first time they crossed paths.

However, things changed between the couple and Cher during the COVID-19 outbreak when they decided to stay at her mansion. According to King, the singer took security precautions at the time to the next level, which caused tension in the household because it wasn’t his “cup of tea”.

King told the news outlet that upon returning from her trip, she asked to see her husband and was turned down by Cher, who had become “hostile.” She stated that she kept trying to find her husband and ended up being threatened with security.
Speaking about her mother-in-law’s behavior, King said, “I was made to feel that it was all my fault. I felt that Cher was saying, ‘Why can’t you whip my son?’”
After moving out of Cher’s property, King was sent a divorce letter, which she says surprised her, because she never believed it was directly from her husband, Elijah.
“From the beginning, I know them [the divorce papers] not from him,” King stated. “Normally, there’s resentment when people get divorced, and there’s nothing between us.”
Despite the divorce papers, the couple would later reunite to celebrate their wedding anniversary at a hotel in New York. It was during this period that Cher allegedly hired four men to “kidnap” her son and take her to a treatment center.
Cher has denied these claims, saying they are “not true.”

Now, Elijah, who was initially the reason for King and Cher’s first meeting, is the obvious source of tension between the two women. His struggles with drug abuse affected his relationship with King and contributed to their divorce.
However, when Cher expressed her desire to obtain a conservatorship order to control her 47-year-old son’s finances, King and Elijah moved to dismiss their divorce filing in an attempt to prevent this intervention.
In court, Cher has claimed her son-in-law is not acting in her son’s best interests, saying she is refusing to get him the help he needs. Cher even went further, expressing concern that Elijah might not survive this year without the court granting him a conservatorship.

In the end, the conservatorship was not granted, much to the relief of King, who told the publication that he and Elijah had moved on from their initial problems.
