As the new year approaches, Cheryl Burke, like many people around the world, is preparing for the coming era filled with renewed energy.
Burke is more than ready to move forward into a new chapter in her life without adding to the burden of her past, and she wasted no time letting her fans know exactly that on social media.
Cheryl Burke Heads into the New Year Undefined by Her Past
The California-born model recently made a candid video ahead of New Year’s Eve, telling fans how emotional she’ll get as she makes it through the year despite the challenges. In the TikTok update, she walks the path, leaning on the camera but ends up turning towards the end.
The clip was initially mounted in slow motion as he walked with both hands on his hips. It then quickly moved towards the end as she raised one hand in the air triumphantly and flipped her long hair. A text overlay can be seen across the clip which reads in part:
“When you see me crying at 11:59pm on NYE, don’t think it’s because I’m sad. It’s because I managed to DO IT all year long who did everything in their power to try and destroy me.”

The note continued, “There were many moments when I thought I would but here I am. Ready to move forward, to no longer be defined by my past, and BE ready to start the next chapter of my life. 2023.” In conclusion, Burke stated that he is eager to show the world how it is done.
This year has certainly been pretty interesting for the May-born dancer, perhaps prompting her to recently take some time to clear her mind ahead of “a new chapter.” The Blast shared that she updated her Instagram fans via a Story post on how she spent some refreshing time alone in the spirit of the new year.
Burke described the experience as “an amazing week of reflection, quiet and meditation and trying to get my mind together.” Elaborating on his collection of thoughts, he was able to de-clutter his mind over the past few months which was much needed and an incredible way to detox.
The TV presenter naturally has her followers in mind as she advises them to try and emulate her by keeping quiet with their thoughts because “it really gets strong there, at least for me.”
At the end of his video post, he states that time to open up, take stock and take a break from overthinking is necessary. The relaxing period should be justified since the 38-year-old also shared his plans to take a break from the dance competition series, “Dancing with the Stars.”
The news came as a shock to many of his fans as he intends to leave after the show’s 31st season and after being dedicated to the franchise for 26 seasons. In her announcement, she had mixed emotions about her final dance and revealed that walking out was the hardest decision of her life but was the right one.
Burke expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in the show, including the cast, crew, and those who got to see her through her ups and downs. He dedicated his last dance to his fans and remained convinced that it was the best time to take a bow and move on to the “next phase” of his career.
‘I Can Do That’ Star Pays Tribute to ‘DWTS’ Dancemates After Exit
Shortly after leaving “DWTS,” The Blast noted that Burke paid tribute to all of her dance partners over the years, including Jack Osbourne, Rob Kardashian, Ian Ziering and Terrell Owens.
He posted a reel featuring celebrity photos and added mirror ball trophy wins seasons two and three with dance partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith. In the attached message, the “Dance Moms” star began:
“To all my dance friends who each played an important role in my life, THANK YOU. Thank you for the life lessons, for trusting me with your vulnerability, and for ALWAYS giving every dance you all.”
He went on to appreciate each of them after stating that despite the “time of blood, sweat, and tears”, he was sure that neither of them would let him down, and they never did.
