Death
Cheslie died on January 30, 2022 in New York after committing suicide. It was reported that he fell from the 29th floor of the building where he lived in Midtown Manhattan, New York. Reportedly, he left a suicide note and gave all his possessions to his mother. In an interview, his family spoke about Cheslie’s death and said,
It is with great devastation and sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Its great light is a light that inspires others around the world with its beauty and strength. He cares, he loves, he laughs and he shines.”

The year I competed as Miss North Carolina USA was my last year of eligibility. And I thought, I don’t want to get to 40 years old and look back and think, if I could have competed, I wonder what would have happened? I don’t want that feeling of regret. I had that feeling because I didn’t try or didn’t work hard or didn’t give myself a chance. And I don’t want to feel that anymore.”
