Chicago-area zoo continues Valentine’s Day theme of naming cockroaches after exes, loved ones

Even rejected lovers celebrate Valentine’s Day too, in the most unconventional ways.

A Chicago-area zoo will allow those willing to pay to name a cockroach for someone not so special in their lives.

For a $15 donation to Brookfield Zoo, those willing can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after their ex or least loved person.

Donors will receive a naming certificate that can be filled out and shared or hung on the wall to remember the cockroach.

The first name will be hung on the Cockroach Naming Board at the Hamill Family Play Zoo if submitted by 5pm on February 5th.

Only first names will be published but customers have the opportunity to write a personal note on the certificate included with the donation receipt.

The board will be announced on February 14.

Potential donors need to fill out a form and need to state whether their cockroach is an ex or ex-friend.

The Bronx Zoo is also offering a similar promotion.
