Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie used a new nickname for Donald Trump while grilling the former president for “attacking” another Republican presidential debate.
“If you keep doing that, nobody here will ever call you Donald Trump again. You’re going to be Donald Duck,” said Christie.
Trump famously lambasted his enemies with a myriad of nicknames such as “Crooked Joe,” “Meatball Ron” and “DeSanctimonous.”
But Christie, who has made himself Trump’s attack dog, appears to be trying to give the former president a taste of his own medicine.
“I want to see the camera now. Let me tell you, Donald, I know you’re watching. You can’t help yourself. I know you’re watching,” Christie said before revealing the new nickname.
“You are not here tonight not because of the vote, and not because of your allegations. You are not here tonight, because you are afraid to be on stage and defend your record. You’re underestimating this,” Christie continued.

Trump cited his huge lead in the polls as a reason to skip the debate. He defeated his closest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, by 42.2 percentage points in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.
Trump has shamed Christie and called him a “slob” in the past. His campaign account on X, formerly Twitter, posted unflattering images of his allies to appear taking pictures at the expected weight of 2024.
X Christie’s account replied a few minutes later with Donald Duck gifs.
Christie befriended Trump in the early 2000s when he was the US attorney for New Jersey.
Both have fallen bitterly. Christie cited the aftermath of the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots as his starting point.
