The film’s star Chris Hemsworth recently revealed how difficult it was to get in shape for “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor discussed this in the latest episode of the Marvel documentary “Assembled.” This surprised fans as the Australian actor has played Thor for over a decade.
Hemsworth first portrayed the character in the first film “Thor” released in 2011, “Thor: The Dark World” in 2013, “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, and “Thor: Love and Thunder” released in July this year. The “Spiderhead” actor explained (per Insider) that he’s used to getting ripped for movies (usually Thor) and then losing weight and muscle for other movies. Hemsworth said it used to be easier for him to change his body for different film roles.
He said, “Every time I play that character and put on the muscles and get the size out, and then lose it for something else and play another character, there’s muscle memory, and I’ve said it gets easier every time.”

Hemsworth also remembers “eating” and “training” for a long time during quarantine. “There’s nothing else to do,” he explained. He then surprised everyone on set by appearing “bigger than [he’d] ever.”
The actor also revealed how surprised his wife, Elsa Pataky was with his change in appearance. The actress and model who has a cameo in the film called her ripped body “too much” and advised her to take a break from training.
While her “boyfriends” are proud of her new body, her “female friends and family” are shocked. This also discourages him from getting big for his future roles. Hemsworth also stars with Pataky in the action film “Interceptor,” due out in May 2022.
The actor’s future projects include “Extraction 2,” the sequel to “Extraction” scheduled for 2023, and the upcoming film “Star Trek 4” with Chris Pine. He will also star in “Furiosa,” which opens in 2024.
