Chris Meledandri currently works at Walt Disney Pictures. Prior to joining Fox, he worked as president of Dawn Steel Pictures at Walt Disney Pictures, where he also contributed to the production of Cool Runnings as an executive producer. 20th Century Fox Animation: While working there, he helped Fox grow into a significant force in the animated feature picture industry by producing Ever After A Cinderella Story. He oversaw Fox’s 1998 purchase of Blue Sky Studios, a fledgling commercial production and visual effects company, which later turned into a profitable producer of animated films.
He runs the artistic and commercial activities of Blue Sky, which is now Fox’s exclusive CGI studio. Meledandri oversaw and/or executive produced several films while working at the company, such as “Ice Age,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown, Robots,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “The Simpsons Movie,” and “Dr. Seuss Horton Mendrag Siapa!” Additionally, he worked on two animated films that were both nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film: Gone Nutty and No Time For Nuts.

Despicable Me, Illumination’s first film, was released in 2010; it was followed by Despicable Me 2 in 2013 and Hop in 2011. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss was adapted into a film by Illumination, continuing a productive partnership between Meledandri and Audrey Geisel, widow of Theodor (Dr. Seuss) Geisel. Additionally, he was the producer of the 2015 spin-off film Minions. Dreamworks Animation and Illumination, On April 28, 2016, NBCUniversal announced its intention to pay $3.8 billion to buy rival company DreamWorks Animation.
