Chrissy Teigen’s Cookware Lid EXPLODES ‘Sending Glass Shards’ Into Soup!
MEGA
On October 27, the popular Soup Recipes Facebook group, which has over 55,000 followers, took to Facebook to share the story of how their glass lids exploded. They explained that they were simmering tortellini soup on the lowest heat setting when the glass lid on their soup pan exploded. Shards of glass were sent all over the kitchen and into the soup, but luckily, it seemed no one was hurt.
They noted that the pan was from Chrissy Teigen’s line of cookware that they had purchased at Target four years ago and warned consumers to “be careful out there.” The post received over 110,000 reactions, 20,000 comments, and was shared over 21,000 times as fans thanked users for sharing their stories.
Fans Question the Quality of Chrissy Teigen’s Cookware Line
Many fans filled the comments section with the words “Thanks for sharing.” One user stated, “I have an old pot and pant and never had it! Glad you’re okay.”
“Thanks for sharing. My pants are about 2 years old,” wrote another user who appears to have the same Chrissy Teigen set. “Will definitely be on the lookout for a different set,” they added.
“I have a lid to do this on a large pan while I’m cooking asparagus. Just pop and go,” another user ventured, though they didn’t share the brand.
Fans Advised To ‘TOS’ Their Chrissy Teigen Pots After Explosive Lids
A user revealed that they have the same pan. “My goodness! I have one of those! I’ve had mine for two years,” wrote one user. Another netizen replied, “Toss it! Please don’t donate it.”
“Okay, I’ll definitely do it now. That scares me. Thank God it didn’t break in your face or anyone else’s,” replied another user. “Why not just remove the veil?” another netizen asked, prompting the user to reply, “I keep my pot.”
Fans Wonder What Other Pots and Pans May Be Affected
Other users ask about experiences with other brands. “I’m so thankful that you all survived the glass shards! I’m so nervous right now. I have a Calphalon glass top- a large soup pot lid and its largest pan top, etc.. Has this ever happened to anyone who has a Calphalon?” ask another user.
“This happened to one of my pots recently! Pretty sure it’s a Cookware brand. We got it from our wedding 16 years ago,” another netizen chimed in.
“I’m glad everyone is safe. I have never experienced this. By any chance are your pots and lids cold? I’m only asking because I’ve heard of this happening with cold pots and lids at the start of the reheat,” said another user.
Wolfgang Puck’s Glass Lid ALSO Reported Exploding!
According to 9News, Chrissy Teigen isn’t the only celebrity to have their pot lids explode. A woman was hospitalized after the glass lid on her Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel pot exploded, sending glass shards into her hands. Unfortunately, that was not the only incident. He said that, on another day, dishes were drying in another room when he heard an explosion, leaving “glass everywhere.”
“I literally heard what sounded like an explosion. I walked into the kitchen and there was glass everywhere,” said the injured customer, noting that he is asking the company to pay his medical bills and reimburse the cost of the cookware. He did not get a refund after he refused to sign a release form absolving the company of any responsibility for the incident.
In a statement, both Wolfgang Puck and the manufacturer blamed user error. “In many cases, broken glass covers are caused by either the user dropping the cover or misusing it,” says Wolfgang Puck. However, there are many user reviews online warning of the dangers of exploding lids.
Chrissy Teigen has yet to comment on the potential dangers of her own line of cookware.
