Sparks flew Wednesday night as former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie tore into Vivek Ramaswamy after the biotech entrepreneur disparaged Nikki Haley’s intelligence.
“This is the fourth debate. The fourth debate that you will be voted in the first 20 minutes as the most annoying punch in America,” Christie said, setting off a near shouting match as Ramaswamy repeatedly interrupted Christie.
“We’re now 25 minutes into this debate and he has insulted Nikki Haley’s basic intelligence, not her position, her basic intelligence,” Christie said. “She’s a smart woman, you should stop insulting her.”
Ramaswamy has compared Haley to President Biden saying: “None of them can articulate for you three regions in eastern Ukraine that they want to send our troops to actually fight.”
“Dismiss this myth that they’ve sold you that someone once had coffee at the UN and then made 8 million dollars after having real foreign policy experience,” Ramaswamy added before calling attention to Haley’s “empty rhetoric.”

Ramaswamy also poked Haley by suggesting that she “couldn’t tell the difference between Israel and the US” on a map.
Christie told the audience that Ramaswamy’s peace plan for Ukraine was to “give [Russia] all the land they have stolen.”
“You come out with a stump and you say something … we face you on the debate stage,” he added. “You say you didn’t say it and then you back off.”

“Nikki and I disagree on some issues, but I’ll tell you this,” Christie concluded. “I’ve known him for 12 years, which is longer than he started voting in the Republican primary. We disagree on some issues, we disagree on who should be president of the United States. We disagree on this: This is a smart and successful woman. You should stop insulting him.”
“First of all, Chris Christie doesn’t even know which region in eastern Ukraine he actually wants to fight for,” Ramaswamy countered before suggesting that a large part of Christie’s “foreign policy experience is closing the bridge from New Jersey to New York.”
“So do everyone a favor, get yourself off that stage, enjoy a good meal and get out of this race,” he concluded before turning his attention back to Haley.

“None of them can name for you the territory they actually want to protect. And these are people who have touted their foreign policy experience,” said Ramaswamy. “It is intellectual fraud. These people are lying. They are the same people who told you about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq to justify the invasion … The same people who told you the same thing in Afghanistan, where the Taliban are still in charge 20 years later.”
