Christina Applegate has revealed why she is defending SKIMS after Candace Owens mocked the shapewear brand for its inclusivity campaign.
The “Dead to Me” actor released a series of statements slamming the political critic’s comments after Owens claimed the disability-friendly Scheme ad was unnecessary and “nonsense”. The campaign features a disabled woman rocking Kim Kardashian’s brand while in a wheelchair.
Christina Applegate Needs to Set Candace Owens Straight for THIS Reason
Applegate continues to advocate for more accessibility for people with disabilities in the fashion industry. His latest tirade came when he sat down together Vanity Fair to discuss how living with multiple sclerosis (MS) has changed his life and career.
During the interview, the Young Artist Award winner was asked how she felt about having to “educate someone about the challenges of the MS community.” In response, the mother of one stated:
“I had to say it because it was bullshit. I know how hard I tried to put my bra on today, and I got stuck. And thank God Skims, a lovely company that has custom clothing for people, sent me a dress that you can wear like a vest, and it has things in the front that you clip on.”

After explaining the technology behind fixing underwear and the occasional inability to get out of “the toilet for an hour because we couldn’t get our pants on,” the “Hall Pass” actor added:
“It is sad that that person – whose name I will not mention – is taking up so much space in my king’s energy field.”
Applegate went on to share that it was exhausting fending off the advice of well-meaning people when all she wanted to do was “lay in my bed and be alone and watch TV.” “’Why don’t you get up and exercise? Why don’t you get on the treadmill for five minutes?’ It’s like, why don’t you fuck off? I’d rather lay here and cry or do whatever I need to do right now to process,” the “Don’t Tell Babysitter Mom” star finished.
As for her response to Owens, The Blast reports that the “Up All Night” screen goddess took to Twitter on Thursday, March 23, to release multiple messages admonishing the conservative author.
“Yes, late tweet. But I woke up to see the most horrible thing. This Candace person made a comment about a company that saw us need help. It’s cruel. I thank Skims, Tommy and Guide Beauty, and @neowalksticks for seeing us. To you #youshouldknowbetter,” Applegate’s rant began.
In a follow-up tweet, the Golden Globe Award nominee revealed the difficulties she faces when it comes to getting dressed, as it often requires the help of a team. As such, she is “excited for accessibility clothing” for herself and her community.

The last tweet expressed his willingness to “get on the phone” with Owens to be “educated about disability” without anger. Although the “Blackout” author replied that he was open to talking to the actor, he declared that he was not aware that the SKIMS ad “features specific technology designed for people with disabilities.”
Primetime Emmy Award Winner Receives Humongous Support From Selma Blair
Applegate and Blair gave the crowd a bad case of “friendship goals” when the two publicly gushed about their old friend’s strength amid her MS battle. The “Hellboy” actor, who has been dealing with the disease since 2018, gushed about his “The Sweetest Thing” co-star after watching his Hollywood Hall of Fame induction last November, declaring:
“She is the iconic Californian actress of my generation. There’s not one thing he’s done that I don’t like, ‘Up it,’ and he’s just being who he is with this MS.
The “Brown’s Requiem” star even helped Applegate through the early stages of her MS diagnosis, which she saw as no big deal. As for the 50-year-old blonde woman, she reciprocates the kindness and goodwill her friend has shown her over the years. Showing her good deed, Blair recalled, according to The Blast:
“There were things that I wasn’t affected by, and he was like, ‘I’m out. Answer the door.’ He’s great and strong and fun.”
Applegate has since revealed that she dealt with her diagnosis by taking a break from activities that required her to be in public.
