Christina Ricci’s two children have very different sleeping styles. The mother of two, 42, recently spoke to PEOPLE about how one child sleeps alone and the other still sleeps with her in her bed.

Baby Ricci Is Sleep Trained, But Her 8-Year-Old Son Still Wants To Sleep With Mom
While Ricci’s 9-month-old daughter Cleopatra with husband Mark Hampton is sleep-trained, her 8-year-old son Freddie, who she shares with ex James Heerdegen, still sleeps with her. “The fact that I can put him in his crib and he just sleeps when my 8-year-old still sleeps with me is amazing,” she said.
When he tried to sleep-train his son when he was a toddler, Ricci explained that he had to change his approach quickly. “He screamed himself hoarse and started banging his head against the crib rail,” she explained. “But with Cleo, when we decided to try and see how she would react to it, she just whimpered for about seven minutes and then laid down, held her little unicorn and went to sleep. It was like she was ready and she wanted to do it, and it suits him.”

Ricci Isn’t the Only Celebrity Mom to Talk About Co-Sleeping
Ricci isn’t the only celebrity mom to admit that co-sleeping is the norm for her family. The Blast reported in July that Alicia Silverstone talked about still co-sleeping with her 11-year-old son Bear. The “Clueless” star discussed it on “The Ellen Fisher Podcast” in July saying, “Bear and I still sleep together. I’m going to get in trouble for saying that but I don’t really care.” Silverstone, 45, explained why she feels co-sleeping should be normal. “If you’re in any kind of wild environment where there are animals…if you put your baby in there, your baby will get eaten. It’s not right for a baby to be in over there.”
Over time, other celebrities also revealed that sleeping with their children is a common practice in their homes. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell revealed they share their bedroom with their children earlier this year, and last year, Tori Spelling said four of her five children still sleep in her bed.

Freddie Helps to Carry Out His Big Brother Duties
The “Yellowjackets” actor said that his son was “very helpful” with the baby and had big brother duties that helped him. Ricci pays Freddie to watch baby Cleo “for 20 minutes at a time in her little playpen” so he can do chores around the house. “He can help me make a bottle. He can help me in the tub with him. It’s really great,” he explained. “There’s not a lot of sibling jealousy or anything. That was a great relief.”

Ricci Presented With “Best Mom” Banner After Emmys
Earlier this month, Ricci’s children presented her with a “Best Mom” banner after the Emmy Awards. He said Freddie was “very excited” to see him on TV. “He didn’t know if I won or lost, but he was just like, ‘Mom, I saw you and [Ricci’s husband Mark Hampton] on TV,’” he said. “’You laugh about something. Someone makes a joke and then they cut to you and you’re there and you’re laughing. I saw Mark.’ It’s the first time I’ve seen her really excited about anything in my career, so it’s been fun because she’s always with our nanny and watching some of the Emmys.”
