Chuck Love, Former Associate Head Coach at Nebraska, Accused of Misconduct.
Ashley Scoggin, a former basketball player at Nebraska from 2020 to 2022, has filed a civil action against former associate head coach Chuck Love for alleged misconduct. She accused Chuck Love, a former Nebraska assistant head coach, of using his position and power to lure her into a sexual relationship. The complaint, filed Sunday, names Love, head coach Amy Williams, athletic director Trev Alberts, and the Nebraska School of Regents as defendants.
Scoggin is seeking specific compensation for alleged violations of his civil rights. Nebraska acknowledged that it was aware of the complaint but denied the charges, saying it intended to fight the case vigorously. Scoggin, who now plays for UNLV, accused Williams and Alberts of neglecting to set adequate boundaries between players and the coaching staff. According to the complaint, Love began asking Scoggin out for drinks and emailing him late at night during an academic internship in the athletic department.
According to the complaint, Love gave Scoggin the impression that he could ‘make or break him’ in terms of the team’s position and his future. Scoggin also said that Love called him for sex in his hotel room during a street game. After refusing to participate in a group s*x session with Love and a second unknown man, he felt he was being given less playtime by the squad.
The complaint also alleges that team members arrested and videotaped Scoggin in Love’s hotel room in February 2022. Additionally, Williams urged team members to investigate Scoggin during a team meeting, ultimately suspending him. Despite the incident, Love remains on paid suspension until his resignation on May 13, 2022.
