CJ Harris Cause of Death
Former “American Idol” semifinalist CJ Harris, who competed in Season 13, has died suddenly at the age of 31. According to an insider who spoke to TMZ, the pop artist reportedly suffered a heart attack (his official cause of death has yet to be released ) on Sunday.
He was rushed to Walker Baptist Medical Center in his hometown of Jasper, Alabama. According to a TMZ reports from Monday, the crooner, whose real name is Curtis “CJ” Harris, was pronounced dead shortly after entering an emergency hospital.
CJ famously wowed the audience during his audition for the Fox talent competition in 2014 by singing Allman Brothers Band hits Soulshine.
Judge Keith Urban told the aspiring singer: “You sing because you have to sing, not because you want to sing.”
“And I mean that in the deepest possible way,” the country star added. “And that’s why it’s so believable and real.”
On the program, the singer also sang “Too Close,” “American Woman,” and “Free Fallin.” In the semi-finals, Harris was chosen as a wild card because he did not get enough votes. He made it all the way to the Top 6 before losing. Notably, Harris performed at the Grand Ole Opry with Darius Rucker, whom he credits as influencing his approach, after his “Idol” run.
Harris’ fellow Idol contestant Jessica Meuse posted a touching tribute to him.
‘Your talent and smile will be missed, and the world is definitely a darker and quieter place without you in it,’ he wrote. ‘I will miss your random phone calls asking for life advice and talking about the world of music… There are so many things I realize I will never understand — you leaving us so soon is one of them.’

CJ Harris previously revealed his modest upbringing. He started learning guitar on a broken guitar his grandfather gave him when he was eight years old. Although it only has three strings, that is enough to associate it with music. He also took up piano and sang in the church choir.
