The new date is expected to lift the mood of Coldplay fans following the band’s frontman Chris Martin’s announcement that he and his bandmates plan to stop recording new albums by 2025. He said at the time:
“Well, I know I can tell you, our last proper record is coming out in 2025, and after that, I think we’ll just be touring. Maybe we’ll do some things collaboratively, but Coldplay’s catalog is, as it were, finished later.
The news immediately sent their fans into a frenzy, leaving them wondering what the future held for the beloved band that first captured hearts with their debut album, “Parachutes.”
As The Blast noted, many people took to Twitter to share their initial reactions to the news, with one claiming that the Grammy Award winner’s music is the best cure for a bad day.

Fans were equally disappointed when an official statement from the Juno Award recipient’s Instagram account revealed that Martin was battling a severe lung infection. Accordingly, the shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, which were highly anticipated by Brazilian fans, have been postponed until early this year.
The band’s announcement expressed deep regret over the situation and assured fans that they are working hard to secure new dates for the postponed shows. Although the Brazil show has been confirmed to be postponed, Coldplay has not made any official announcement about the potential impact on other tour dates, including in Argentina, which is scheduled to start on October 25, 2022.
After acknowledging the disappointment the unexpected news will cause for their Brazilian fans, the band expressed their sincere gratitude for their understanding during the trial period. For those who bought tickets for this show, the “A Sky Full of Stars” singer assured that their access will remain valid for the new rescheduled date.
However, they stressed that since some fans may not be able to attend the new date, they are committed to fulfilling ticket refund requests at the time of sale. In closing, the rockers expressed their hope that Martin will fully recover from the infection and return to the stage to continue thrilling their audience with their hit songs and joyful performances.
The Brazil show finally took place in March, with Coldplay bringing out legendary country superstar Seu Jorge to perform at the Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo.
