The relationship between Cole Barnett and Zanab Jaffrey is arguably one of the highlights of season 3 of “Love Is Blind.”
Although the show was filmed over a year ago, things heated up over Thanksgiving weekend, when fans of the Netflix dating reality show blasted Zanab for claiming he met Cole’s ex-wife for coffee.

Zanab has also claimed that she suffered from an eating disorder while filming the show because of Cole’s embarrassing comments. During the After the Altar reunion, he claimed that the “Cuties” scene — which Netflix later added to the special — was proof that Cole had been embarrassing himself throughout the show. However, many fans see it in a completely different light and feel that Cole actually cares about – and does not criticize – his eating habits.
In a recent 20-minute appearance on Apple’s Lauren Interviews podcast, Cole “spilled the details” about the reunion, the wedding, and, of course, the Cuties scene. Read on to see what he had to say!

During the interview, Cole said that she was “so grateful” that Netflix included the Cuties scene in the special because she had no idea why Zanab accused her of embarrassing herself. “I just asked and said, ‘Hey, we’re planning this big dinner.’ I just talk to him and be myself,” he explained.
“I try to keep things light,” Cole continued, noting that this isn’t the first time he’s had to watch his language around Zanab. “And the reason I use the word ‘appetito’ instead of appetite and talk like a normal human being is because I know how sensitive things are with Zay in everything.”
“I was walking on eggshells because I knew there were just tripwires everywhere,” he continued. “When I say one thing that offends him, I am now the worst. I’m just trying to figure out how to talk without saying something wrong.”

The tenth episode of the season ends with a trip down the aisle for Zanab and Cole. According to Cole, the two had made plans in advance, as Zanab did not want “drama” at the wedding. Unfortunately, that’s not a bad way. Zanab walked down the aisle and proceeded to call out Cole in front of everyone, accusing him of single-handedly destroying her confidence.
When asked about how the wedding scene went down, Cole said, “He played me. One hundred percent, he played me,” before revealing that Zanab told him “there’s a chance we’re going to get married.” However, Cole said after their last date, “We talked off camera and I told him I wasn’t ready to get married.”

Cole claimed that Zanab told him “verbatim” that “I don’t want any drama at the wedding,” then said, “I’m playing it completely and it’s scripted.” He also said that it was “a lie for him at the reunion to say that he was still trying to decide on the wedding day whether or not he was ready to marry me.”

Cole also dismissed the idea that Netflix producers may have encouraged Zanab to make a big speech at the altar, similar to the one Deepti Vempati gave to Shake during season 2. Cole said that “the producers don’t put words in your mouth, adding that they “don’t coordinating things like that.”
“That’s 100 percent Zanab’s decision,” he added. “It was as surprising to the production as it was to me.” For what it’s worth, Shake has shared plenty of support for Cole on his Instagram Stories, even referring to Zanab as Amber Heard.

As for the situation after the reunion aired, Cole said that they didn’t talk. He said that he sent her one message “and she just loved it.” Fortunately, it seems the experience hasn’t deterred her from dating again. “I’m open to dating,” he said, admitting that he would “date” but not yet.
“I don’t date,” Cole explained.
