Realtor Cole Barnett talks about his relationship with Zanab Jaffrey, who was featured heavily during season 3 of the popular Netflix reality show, “Love Is Blind.”
In a reunion special and subsequent interviews, Zanab claimed she suffered from an eating disorder while filming the show, due to Cole’s repeated comments about her appearance. Cole, for his part, denied some of his claims and apologized for anything he said that would “single-handedly destroy his confidence”, which is what Zanab claimed when he pushed her at the altar.
Fans have sided between Zanab and Cole since the show aired, with Cole later admitting that he “didn’t expect” the fan reaction to the show “the way it turned out.”

Cole admitted that he didn’t expect the media attention surrounding his appearance on the show. “But it is: you have a lot of people who hate you, and you have a lot of people who love you,” he told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview.
“I have to work harder to stay away from my phone because you just want to sit and read everything online,” Cole added. “But I’ve done my best to disconnect from what the internet is doing and remain who I am in my life.”

Cole revealed that the reunion happened a year and a half after filming. She described the reunion as “gross” and “horrific,” adding that she was blindsided by Zanab’s accusations of body shaming.
“That was the first time I’d ever heard about her eating disorder,” Cole said of the reunion. “I don’t know, not during our relationship, not since I saw him even after the show. He didn’t mention it to me.”

He also said that none of the other season 3 cast members mentioned it, although Cole said the group often went out to bars and restaurants together in the month or two before the reunion.
“It’s really hard to work with people who will just say things to your face when there’s cameras around, and when there’s no cameras around and you’re all together nobody says things to my face,” Cole said, adding that he sat on a plane with Alexa’s husband, Brennon, on a flight from Dallas to LA to film the reunion.

Although Alexa called Cole a “liar” at the meeting, Cole said Brennon never mentioned anything about Zanab’s allegations to her.
“I don’t know how to deal with this if no one is really willing to talk to me about anything, but everything is behind my back, or it will be in my face but only when there are cameras around,” said Cole.

“It doesn’t help me to be told a thing by people when there are no cameras around, and then I hear about how people feel about me through other people instead of directly from them,” she continued. “If someone has something to say to me, I hope they say it in front of me. They said it in front of me during the meeting, but we had a lot of interactions before that and nobody wanted to just say it to me.”
The reunion also didn’t go as Cole expected. She thought everyone wanted to get together to talk about the experience of filming the show, but, in Cole’s words, “it seemed like everyone really wanted to come and just bring everything down. The girls were all united, united, and I think they are proud of him.”

“I just thought the reunion was really hard because it seemed like the girls were on a very different page than the boys,” she added. “The girls just stood up for themselves and attacked in some way.”
Regarding his relationship with Zanab, he said that the two “don’t really talk.”

“I don’t think we’ll ever be together again or anything like that, but I’d love to at least be able to be friends with him and talk to him and get over any pain I’m going through. cause him,” he continued. “I’m at a place where I want to do my best with it but I can do the right thing with it.”
“Not to say that we’re going to be romantically involved again because he’s obviously been good enough to me, but with our lives on display for everyone to see and our relationship on display, I’d like to at least have an open line of communication with him,” she added. “He reached out and asked for all the pictures and videos I had of us, and I sent them to him. Then from there, he wouldn’t talk. Any message I send, he just likes it and then leaves it.”

Season 3 of “Love Is Blind” is now available to stream on Netflix. No premiere date has been announced for season 4, which has reportedly already finished filming.
