Colin Jost’s mother is not with Baby Cosmo
Jost and Johansson share a son’s name, Cosmo. We don’t know anything about the baby other than the fact that she’s alive and well and that’s how her actor and writer baby daddy plans to keep her. Even so, the name Cosmo doesn’t go well with Jost’s mother.
She begged the couple not to name their son Cosmo before he was born and now that he’s here… he still does. “I just thought it was charming and then our friends all loved it and then Colin’s mum had a bit of a harder time with it,” she shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week.

Johansson shared that her MIL was just tired of how the name would play out in the long run.
“It’s not sitting [right] he kept suggesting another version for a while and i was like ‘no he’s already like here. He’s out, it’s too late.’”
We can only imagine the laughter that erupted in the house every time Colin’s mother suggested a new name.
Johansson didn’t get specific about what her mother-in-law didn’t like about the name but we’re guessing it was because it was unconventional. To be honest, he should have expected it, unconventional names are trending at this point. Trisha Paytas just named her daughter Malibu Barbie, so mama Jost should praise the actress.

The Black Widow actress won’t care she likes the name and Clarkson agrees. “I like that, because your daughter is Rose,” he said. “I love them both flowers! My kids hate plants and how much I love them… but I love flowers and plants and I think that’s pretty cool!”
Johansson beamed as everyone else besides her realized that Cosmo wasn’t pulled out and that it actually meant something. “Not many people make that connection, Cosmo is like a very sweet little flower [that] comes in various colors of orange and yellow and so on. That’s why my daughter likes it too.”

The couple met in 2006 when he was hosting Saturday Night Live and be friends but both are in a relationship. He appeared on the show again in 2017 and that’s when everything happened. By May 2019, they were engaged and they married in October 2020.
Suddenly Cosmo was born one day and the couple shared a bit of news only after the speculation got out of hand. “Ok ok we’ve got a baby,” wrote Jost in a short and sweet Instagram post. “His name is Cosmo. We love him so much. Privacy will be greatly appreciated.”
It’s the most the couple has shared about their child since… maybe this new interview. Their boys weren’t kidding when they said they wanted privacy.
