Comedian Justin Martindale ‘Draws The Line’ On Friendship With Heather McDonald

Who knew the world of comedy had so much drama… just sayin’!

Comedian and podcast host, Justin Martindale, recently spoke about the demise of his friendship with fellow comedian, Heather McDonald.

You may recognize Heather from her days on “Chelsea Lately,” her small cameo as a sales clerk on “White Chicks” or her popular podcast, “Juicy Scoop.”

Justin and Heather have been friends for 10+ years, but according to the Comedy Store flagship, their friendship took a turn in March.

During this week’s episode of Justin’s podcast, “JUST SAYIN’ with Justin Martindale,” he took the time to explain his side of the story.

“I want to take this time to address something that has been on my mind. I don’t want to talk about this. I like to avoid conflict and drama, but since some incidents have happened this past weekend, I thought it was time to highlight something that has been brewing in me for a while,” said Justin.

He began by explaining that they had been friends for over 10 years, he had appeared on “Juicy Scoop” 33 times in three years. Justin admitted to being a fan of “Chelsea Lately” and her comedy guest when he started making guest appearances on Heather’s podcast.

He also sees Heather as a mentor and friend.

“Over the weekend I found out my friend, Heather McDonald, the comedian and host of ‘Juicy Scoop,’ who I’ve watched sometimes for about 33 times, and I’ve also done more than 15 live shows with her, she charges her . listeners on Patreon to talk about his side of the story about all this drama going on between us,” he explained. “This is where I draw the line. Monetizing my name to change the narrative to save face.”

“Disclaimer! Explosion does not subscribe to individual celebrity Patreon accounts, therefore, we were unable to hear Heather’s story.”

Things started to get a little funky in March after Justin had a face-to-face, albeit pleasant, encounter with Jeff Lewis.

“I don’t know the whole Jeff Lewis crew, at this point, I know who Jeff Lewis is. I don’t know the beef between everyone. I just stay in my lane,” admitted the comedian.

According to Justin, Lewis wanted to bring him on his SiriusXM show, “Jeff Lewis Live,” but someone got in the way.

Lewis basically told Justin that he couldn’t be on the show, because “I have to get Heather’s approval. Heather won’t let you be on ‘JLL.’”

It also happens that March is Justin’s birthday month and he skipped his birthday party on the 17th, St. Patrick.

But he’s not going to charge his fans to listen to a Patreon episode of him talking about Heather not coming on her birthday.

Instead, the former ‘Chelsea Lately’ contributor called to complain to her for an hour about some of the drama going on at Kelly Dodd’s pool party.

The incident occurred between Heather and Megan Weaver, a recurring guest on ‘JLL.’

According to Heather, Megan allegedly said, “the meanest thing anyone has ever said to me” at the party.

But back to Heather and Justin.

Prior to May, Justin had appeared on Heather’s podcast for free without compensation.

“We started getting paid in May 2023. My last episode was in July, so he started paying us every episode in May. I think this is fair,” which is something he admits he’s fine with.

Friendships Break Up Quickly In May!

What Justin didn’t like was his refusal to participate in the “Harmless Drag” telethon that same month.

She had asked Heather for a quick video to show her support for the LGBTQ+ community and for the telethon.

Justin said, “He looked me in the eye and said ‘No. No, I can’t do this. I don’t want my fans to be mad at me.’ That shook me a little.”

This led to his fans asking why he associated Heather and anti-LGBT rhetoric.

From May to July, Justin began to protect himself and distance himself from her.

Fast forward to the July episode “Juicy Scoop” where the movie “Sound of Freedom” is brought up. This film is about child sex trafficking.

He explained that he knew nothing about the movie, but since he was a comedian, he made the comment jokingly. It’s something that can be edited, but “he knows what he’s doing.”

This sent fans of his podcast into a frenzy, and they started attacking Justin on social media. He received very hateful, explicit and threatening messages.

Heather never tries to smooth things over with her fans or shut down negative comments.

To add insult to injury, Justin posted a screenshot of Heather liking the comment calling her a “narcissist and a dresser”.

He confronts her and she feeds him a big bowl of BS!

Their deteriorating relationship led to Justin leaving live shows in Napa and Las Vegas.

Additional shady moves were made by Heather, according to Justin, which made matters worse.

“I want this thing to fail. I’m tired. It took a lot out of my mental health, my relationship with my boyfriend, my friendships, and my creative process,” Justin said before ending the episode. “I have nothing to lose or gain from talking about this matter. I just ask him to take responsibility for his actions, because obviously, he can’t do it for himself.”
