Comedian Ron Funches Files Domestic Violence Restraining Order Against His Ex-Wife

The drama between comedian Ron Funches and his ex-wife, Christina Dawn Funches, continues with shocking allegations against her former partner.

The “Trolls” voice actress recently filed for a restraining order against Christina, citing verbal and emotional abuse. He emphasized several allegations about his ex-wife, including her plan to take their son if she did not receive compensation.

Ron Funches Claims Ex-Wife Is A Threat To His Family

In court documents obtained by The Blast, Ron asked a judge for a domestic violence restraining order against Christina.

She claims her ex has caused her emotional harm through verbal abuse and harassing text messages, which she claims have been common since 2023.

He listed the abuse dates as “January 6, 2024, January 20, 2024, and various dates in 2023.” Ron explained that Christina’s harassment occurred regardless of time or place, including in front of their young son, Theodore Rear Funches, and highlighted one of her alleged verbal outbursts.

The comedian recalled that during the exchange of prisoners, Christina became angry and began to curse and shout at him. She allegedly called him “a horrible person and father and a ‘piece of s—.'”

The drama does not end there; she also allegedly asked Ron to “man up and buy her a house,” or she would take their son to her home country of Canada, without her consent. This incident allegedly happened before she gave birth to Theodore, which is why the entertainer wants the judge to grant her family a protective order.

The father of two believes that his sons — Theodore and Malcolm — along with their elderly mother, Karen Denise Skelton, are in danger. He insisted that he was “deeply concerned” about Christina’s relationship with her family, given her “increasingly erratic behavior.”

Ron also noted his ex-wife’s behavior went beyond ineffective co-parenting and incessant harassment. She stated that his attacks had significantly affected her peace of mind and strained their relationship to the point where the former couple could not reasonably talk about their child’s well-being.

The comedian claimed the only way he could fulfill his parenting duties with Christina was to endure “a series of name-calling, profanity and attacks on his character and parenting.”

Ron doubled down on his need for a restraining order, stating that he did not deserve to endure the constant abuse of his former lover. She also pleaded on her son’s behalf, saying Theodore shouldn’t have suffered the emotional trauma that Christina “obviously tried to inflict on him as he got older.”

Ron Funches Files For Divorce Two Years After ‘Pandemic Marriage’

Ron’s filing of the restraining order came two years after his marriage to Christina ended. He filed for divorce in 2022, seeking joint legal and physical custody of their son in addition to ending his ex-wife’s rights to spousal support.

It should be noted that in California, the amount a person pays in spousal and child support is usually based on each individual’s salary. In other words, if Christina makes more than her husband, she can be ordered to pay him support — and vice versa.

As for the former couple’s property, Ron explained that the couple’s separate assets, debts and community property had not been determined at the time. He said his petition would be amended once the calculations were made.

The “BoJack Horseman” voice actor and Christina first met on the dating site Bumble and eventually tied the knot in August 2020. Because they tied the knot during the pandemic, some media dubbed their union a “Pandemic Marriage.”

Not much is known about the couple’s relationship as they kept a low profile, especially after their marriage. Most of the updates on the former couple come from Ron’s social media pages. During their engagement, the comedian humorously wrote:

“I call my fiance Robot because when we met on Bumble I thought he was really pretty but he only had one profile picture so I didn’t think he was real! He is genuine and the only thing he stole was my last name.”

Following their pandemic union, Ron appeared on Conan O’Brien’s show to address the couple’s intimate relationship. He joked that their wedding was a great one because it was “a good excuse not to invite racist family members.”

She also admitted that she never thought she would end up in a second marriage after her first walk down the aisle; however, quarantine with Christina convinced him that he would spend the rest of his life with her.
