Comer wants Biden impeached, teases more details on family loans: ‘This is going to be a big week’

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said he wants Congress to impeach President Biden while teasing subpoenas against the first family regarding their foreign affairs.

Comer (R-Ky.) is leading the presidential impeachment inquiry — a fact-finding mission into whether Joe Biden engaged in an influence peddling scheme while he was vice president.

“I think he should, but that will be left up to the speaker,” Comer told Fox News’ “Mihad Pagi Hahapan” when asked about the impeachment. “People ask me why I haven’t put someone in jail yet. All I can do is investigate.”

In US history, there have only been four presidential impeachments, three of which occurred in the last 25 years, including the last two against former President Donald Trump.

Newly installed Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has refrained from endorsing Biden’s formal impeachment, but indicated a decision is coming “soon.”

Comer teased that “subpoenas are going to happen” and that “this is going to be a big week.”

So far, the panel has avoided calling Hunter Biden or members of the first family directly to testify.

At one point, host Maria Bartiromo told Comer, “[the president] said he never discussed business with his son, never did business with his son. Are you planning to call them in and issue a subpoena?”

“Absolutely,” replied Comer. “We always plan to do that.”

Comer is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee that has been looking into the affairs of the Biden family since the GOP took over the House of Representatives earlier this year.

Comer again made bold claims about what congressional investigators have discovered about the Biden family.

“We have subpoenaed the bank account. And now we have enough bank accounts, Maria, where we can actually trace the money,” he added, accusing the Biden family of “money laundering.”

“This is a highly organized criminal enterprise by the Biden family. These are not just some drug addicts making potions and making wild deals. This is very organized.”

The White House has vehemently denied Comer’s accusations against the president’s first family, accusing him of making outlandish claims, and then failing to back them up with evidence.

“The lies and conspiracy theories of immigrants are getting more desperate by the day,” a White House spokesman said Ian Sams posted on X last week.

Sams’ remarks to Comer came in response to a memo from the Oversight Committee alleging that the president received $40,000 in “laundered” funds from the Chinese government-linked CEFC China Energy in 2017 while he was out of office.

The Post contacted the White House for comment.

Comer also stressed that the president needs to answer the public about the terms of the loan.

“The next big question that the Biden family, including Joe Biden, has to answer to the American people is, what exactly are the terms of this loan? What kind of documentation do you have regarding this loan?” Comer said.

The scandal-plagued first son Hunter Biden recently wrote an op-ed lamenting the scrutiny he has received and accusing Republicans of “weaponizing” his fight against drug addiction.

“My struggles and my mistakes have been fodder for a vile and persistent disinformation campaign against [President Biden]and the complete obliteration of my reputation through high-profile but fruitless congressional investigations and, more recently, criminal charges for possessing an unloaded firearm for 11 days five years ago – charges that appear to be the first of their kind ever brought. in Delaware history,” he wrote in a USA Today piece.

Joe Biden is the undisputed frontrunner to be his party’s standard bearer in 2024.

The latest poll from the New York Times and Sienna College shows the incumbent trailing Trump, the GOP frontrunner, in five of six key battleground states.
