Connecticut couple berate Puerto Rican landscapers, accuse them of being illegal immigrants: video

A Connecticut couple has been charged with disorderly conduct after berating a Puerto Rican landscaper and accusing the siblings of being in the US illegally.

The ugly confrontation caught on camera began when Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, verbally attacked a landscaper working on a nearby home in Middletown, Connecticut.

The couple originally approached Jose Martin and his brother, who are both Puerto Rican, to complain about the noise, but the confrontation escalated.

“I thought he was going to have us work or do something in his yard,” Martin told WFSB. “As soon as I saw him cursing us, I immediately took my phone. I said ‘Okay, this is going to be a problem.'”

The siblings were cutting down a tree when the couple came to complain.

Bourgeois-Williams can be seen on a video posted to Facebook: “J. Martin Landscaping likes to show videos of people complaining that they’ve been making noise all f–king day. You keep wanting to make noise in the neighborhood? We don’t do that here.”

Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, were charged with disorderly conduct after they verbally assaulted two landscapers working on a nearby home in Middletown, Connecticut. The pair were arrested because their hostile behavior prevented a worker from moving freely on the road,” Middleton Police said.

The couple also filmed the Martin brothers as the two brothers calmly stood in the street. They complained the couple had been “making noise all day” and asked “what they’ve been doing” before asking them if they spoke English.

“Take some good video so you have to go back to the border,” says Bourgeois-Williams. “You are a clown. Do you have a visa? Do you have a visa to be here? Do you have a visa to be here? Are you here legally?”

Brenda De Jesus, a relative of the brothers, said the two men “never set foot on their property.”

“They are just doing their job and these racist and disgusting people are doing all this because of the sound of lawnmowers, trimmers, etc.,” De Jesus wrote.
