A man jumped on a bench in a Las Vegas courtroom and attacked the judge at his sentencing hearing Wednesday after he denied it in a trial, wild footage showed.
Deobra Redden, 30, a three-time felon, was sentenced by Judge Mary Kay Holthus in Clark County District Court after she was convicted of attempted battery with great bodily injury, KLAS reported.
Around 11 a.m., Redden’s attorney asked Holthus to sentence his client to probation — but Holthus had something different in mind for repeat offenders.
“I think it’s time for him to taste something else because I can’t with that history,” he said.
Suddenly, Redden sprinted to the bench, jumped on himself with outstretched arms and slammed the judge to the ground, video obtained by the outlet shows.

The American flag and the Nevada state flag crashed in the commotion. Several others could be seen grappling with Redden in the earlier chaos as he yelled obscenities at Holthus, according to the footage.
Court officials appeared to drag him away, but he broke free and tried to return after the judge, while he was still on the court, showed the video. He and others can be seen exchanging blows in the struggle.
“What’s wrong with you man?” someone can be heard screaming in the background.
“Where’s Mary Kay – is she okay?” a man asked when Redden was finally handcuffed.
The alarm went off for several minutes alerting others to the incident, according to KLAS.
Holthus suffered minor head injuries but is in good condition, sources told the outlet. A marshal was also injured in the fight.

“Thank God the judge is fine,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said in a statement. “Thank God for the heroic efforts of those who came to his aid, especially his marshals and law clerks.
“Without them, the situation would have been much worse because this defendant exhibited very violent behavior and I’m sure there will be consequences,” Wolfson said.
On April 23, Redden threatened “to break the kneecap” of another man, “resulting in great bodily harm,” according to court documents.
Redden was ordered by a different judge in May to undergo a competency test. He was committed to a state behavioral facility before he was found competent in October, records show.
Redden pleaded guilty to the charge in November. Judge Holthus issued a warrant for his arrest in December after he missed a court appearance, KLAS reported.

After Wednesday’s attack, he faces new charges of battery and battery on a protected person — with the latter charge indicating the victim was “significantly injured.”
He is due back in court — hopefully in handcuffs — on Thursday at 9 a.m. He is being held in the Clark County Jail.
Redden previously appeared before Holthus on a charge of malicious destruction of property, according to court documents. He also spent a year in jail on a domestic battery charge in 2021.
Last month, a fight broke out outside a Mississippi court between two families following the trial for Derrick Coleman, who is believed to know the whereabouts of his estranged wife and corrections officer Crump Coleman, who disappeared in July.
In October, a distraught mother and two family members attacked her daughter’s alleged killer, Diamond Alvarez, because she claimed the killer “laughed in my face” during emotional testimony in a courtroom in Houston, Texas, footage of the show’s chaos fight.
Days later, the family of a brutally murdered 15-year-old Texas teenager hunted down the alleged killer and sparked a massive brawl during a court hearing in San Antonio.
