Convoy claiming to be ‘God’s army’ heading to Texas to protest border crisis: ‘Biblical, monumental moment’

A group whose members have described themselves as “God’s army” is heading to the southern border to protest record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing from Mexico.

Organizers with “Take Our Border Back” say they want to oppose “globalists” who they believe are conspiring to allow immigrants to flood the country illegally.

“This is a biblical monument, a monument that God has arranged,” one organizer said during a planning call, according to Vice News.

“We are surrounded on all sides by evil evil forces,” said another.

The group is planning a convoy, which will leave Virginia Beach on Monday for Texas, followed by three rallies on February 3 at a site near Eagle Pass, Texas; Yuma, Arizona; and San Ysidro, California.

A Jan. 12 news release called on any active and retired law enforcement as well as military, veterans, elected officials, truck drivers and “LAW-ABIDING, freedom-loving Americans” to join the movement. Their goal, the group claims, is to “explain the obvious dangers posed by a wide-open Southern border.”

As of Saturday afternoon, the convoy’s fundraising efforts through the GiveSendGo website had raised more than $90,000.

The group wanted a peaceful rally, but admitted to Vice that the demonstration might get out of control.

“We realize we may have an intruder. There may be some people who are trying to take us down, who are jumping in the convoy — provocateurs,” promoter Scotty Saks told the outlet.

“We may have a few, and they will have to deal with our security forces, they will be asked to leave.”

The rally comes amid heightened tensions between the Biden administration and Texas over the country’s efforts to secure the border.

This week, a divided Supreme Court ruled that Border Patrol agents can cut razor wire installed by Texas officials along a 30-mile stretch near Eagle Pass, which has been overwhelmed by the migrant crisis.

On Thursday, 25 Republican governors signed a letter supporting Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who continues to put up sharp barriers to prevent immigrants from crossing through the high-traffic site despite the high court’s ruling.

In December, Customs and Border Protection agents had a record-breaking 302,034 immigrant encounters at the southern border, according to data released Friday.
