A Texas police officer allegedly swiped thousands of dollars in cash from the glove box of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run late last year, authorities said Wednesday.

Morales allegedly swept the dough as soon as he arrived at the scene.

The owner of the car immediately notified the police that money was missing shortly after the incident, leading to an internal investigation.

Following an investigation, investigators determined money was missing from a locked glove box and a small bag left in the vehicle, El Paso police said.

Morales, who has served two years and lives in El Paso, faces theft charges. It’s unclear how much he allegedly stole, but the charges are for amounts between $2,500 and $30,000.
